<p>Teaching is a noble profession to educate the youth of nations facing today’s global challenges. Teaching, at the same time, has become a highly challenging profession and occasionally a draining work, especially for those who are working in the remote areas. A high-level of teacher absenteeism in the primary schools of Southern Papua has blown some societal alarm for conducting studies focusing on emotional exhaustion as a latent predictor for low-performance. This study attempted to describe the eventual correlation between the emotional exhaustion and organizational commitment of teachers working in the primary schools of Merauke, Indonesia. A survey approach was employed to collect data from a total of 243 primary school teachers in Merauke, Papua, Indonesia. Data were examined statistically by employing Pearson’s correlation model. Results of analysis showed that the emotional exhaustion and commitment of primary school teachers in Merauke, Indonesia, are significantly negatively correlated. This result may be useful for the teachers to benefit from the information of how they may interact with all the school elements and the extent to which these emotions directly affect their organizational commitment. The result may also be advisable for the school leaders to take some tactical efforts of securing teachers’ emotion to promote a high-level of teachers’ organizational commitment and, in turn, improving students’ capabilities in reading, writing, and arithmetics.</p>
A high rate of teacher absenteeism in Merauke regency, Papua Province, Indonesia might be attributed to the low commitment of primary school teachers to educate the young people of Merauke, Indonesia. This study aimed to examine whether a positive and significant correlation exists between the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of the Catholic primary school teachers of Merauke, Indonesia. Applying a survey approach, two quantitative survey forms were distributed to a total of 157 teachers working in the Catholic primary schools of Merauke, Indonesia. A face-toface way of data collection was employed by having a prior consent from all the informants personally. Using Pearson's correlation analysis as a tool for analyzing the collected data, the study showed a positive and significant correlation among the two surveyed variables as the amount of Pearson's correlation coefficient (R) is .875 and the probability coefficient (ρ) is .000. The major conclusion of this study is that the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the Catholic primary school teachers of Merauke, Indonesia, are significantly positively correlated. Practical implication of the finding is that the need for the school principals to promote the organizational commitment of teachers by enhancing their job satisfaction in order that the Catholic primary school students' right to be well educated would be addressed adequately. Despite the possibility of the similar conclusion of this study with the previous studies conducting in other countries, the finding may support the current knowledge on the topic by giving a valuable information from an empirical context of Merauke, Indonesia.
This study intends to explain whether or not emotional exhaustion and organisational commitment of Catholic primary school teachers in Merauke regency correlate prospectively. This study was guided by one research question: ‘Does the Catholic primary school teachers’ emotional exhaustion and organisational commitment correlate significantly negatively?’ To answer the research question, two survey questionnaires were disseminated to 157 teachers. Employing the SPSS programme version 21, the study shown a significant negative correlation among the surveyed research variables. The findings may be authoritative for the Catholic primary school leaders and the Chief of the Catholic Foundation for Education in Merauke regency, Indonesia, to take major efforts to eliminate emotional exhaustion of teachers in order to foster the organisational commitment of teachers at the Catholic primary schools to teaching the youth. The quality of learning in Indonesia is indicated to have not met the expected quality. This has an impact on student learning achievement which is not yet encouraging, especially compared to student learning achievement. This study aims to analyze educational supervision for continuous teacher professional development. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. This research uses qualitative methods. Bogdan and Taylor in Moleong (2010:4) explain that qualitative research is "a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people or observable behavior. Data collection in qualitative research is not limited to certain categories, thus enabling researchers to study and find certain issues in depth related to the problem under study where researchers conduct studies on several articles relevant to the research objectives and collect data for further analysis. the description of the findings, thus this research is categorized as library research. The results showed that educational supervision held teacher learning which ultimately resulted in high student achievement. Improving the quality of learning needs to be done continuously along with the development of science, technology, society. The approach to improving the professionalism of teachers can be done by using supervision techniques, fostering a learning organizational culture, and training activities. By using this approach, institutional performance can be carried out through continuous professional improvement of teachers, both individually and in groups. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode descriptive kualitatif Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Bogdan dan Taylor dalam Moleong (2010:4) menerangkan bahwa penelitian kualitatif merupakan “prosedur penelitian yang menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan dari orang-orang atau perilaku yang dapat diamati. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian kualitatif tidak dibatasi pada kategori-kategori tertentu, sehingga memungkinkan peneliti untuk mempelajari dan menemukan isu-isu tertentu secara mendalam terkait dengan masalah yang diteliti dimana peneliti melakukan kajian terhadap beberapa artikel yang relevan dengan tujuan penelitian dan mengambil data untuk dianalisis selanjutnya melakukan deskripsi temuan hasil dengan demikian penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa supervisi pendidikan memegang pembelajaran guru yang pada akhirnya menghasilkan prestasi belajar siswa yang tinggi. Peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran perlu dilakukan secara berkesinambungan seiring perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, masyarakat. Pendekatan peningkatan keprofesionalan guru tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan teknik supervisi, menumbuhkan budaya organisasi pembelajar, dan kegiatan pelatihan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan tersebut, dapat dilakuka kinerja lembaga melalui peningkatan keprofesionalan guru secara berkelanjutan baik yang dilakukan secara perorangan maupun kelompok.
This study aims to describe qualitatively the indicators of the challenges of the effectiveness of instructional supervision carried out by school principals. This research is a literature study with a systematic review approach. The meta-synthesis was carried out to answer the research question, namely how are the indicators of the challenges of the effectiveness of the instructional supervision carried out by the principal. The researcher does not limit the year of publication of the references used as long as they are relevant to the topics discussed in this article. The literature study in this article was carried out in six stages of activity, namely: (a) formulating research questions, (b) conducting a literature search, (c) screening and selecting research articles, (d) analyzing and synthesizing qualitative findings, (e) enforce quality control, and (f) compile a final report. Based on several problems in the implementation of supervision, it can be summarized several indicators that become challenges in achieving the effectiveness of instructional supervision in schools: (a) knowledge/skills, (b) context, (c) community, (d) political/legal, (e) professional development, and (f) incentives and rewards. This study is limited to references; publication of research results, books, other scientific articles. Field research makes it possible to do in order to get deeper data and information. It is recommended to principals and supervisors to study the factors that hinder the effectiveness of supervision and anticipate them early before supervision is carried out. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan secara kualitatif indikator-indikator tantangan efektivitas supervise instraksional yang dilakukan kepala sekolah. Penelitian ini merupakan studi literatur dengan pendekatan systematic review. Meta-sintesis dilakukan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yaitu bagaimana indikator-indikator tantangan efektivitas supervise instraksional yang dilakukan kepala sekolah. Peneliti tidak membatasi tahun publikasi dari referensi-referensi yang digunakan selama relevan dengan topik yang dibahas dalam artikel ini. Studi literatur dalam artikel ini dilakukan dalam enam tahap kegiatan yaitu: (a) memformulasikan pertanyaan penelitian, (b) melakukan pencarian literatur, (c) melakukan skrining dan seleksi artikel penelitian, (d) melakukan analisis dan sintensis temuan-temuan kualitatif, (e) memberlakukan kendali mutu, dan (f) menyusun laporan akhir. Berdasarkan beberapa permasalahan pelaksanaan supervise dapat dirangkum beberapa indicator yang menjadi tantangan dalam upaya pencapai efektivitas supervise instruksional di sekolah: (a) penegathuan/skill, (b) konteks, (c) komunitas, (d) politik/legal, (e) pengembangan profesonal, dan (f) insentif dan reward.
