A novel configuration of millimeter-wave planar array antenna based on low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) technology is investigated. The configuration exploits the three-dimensional (3-D) integration feature of LTCC by incorporating a novel quasi-cavity-backed patch (QCBP) element using a pair of grid-like conductor walls and a mixed feeding network configuration. A proposed LTCC planar array antenna consisting of 16 by 16 elements is designed, manufactured and tested. Good agreement is achieved between the theoretical performance and the measured results.
Abstract-In this paper, an integrated low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) laminated waveguide to microstrip line T-junction is proposed and experimentally verified. A multilayer bellshape probe end comprising multiple parallel metallic pads is used to improve the bandwidth and matching condition. The experimental result shows good correlation with the simulated result. The configuration can also be used as the transition between microstrip line and laminated waveguide.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
