O artigo tem como objetivo revisar algumas teorias clássicas sobre o campesinato que privilegiam as greves, rebeliões, ações contra o estado, organizações institucionais como espaços de expressão política dos camponeses. Reconhece-se a importância destas ações no cenário político, no entanto, elas nos dizem pouco sobre a luta mais vital e cotidiana levada na fábrica pela jornada de trabalho, pelo salário, pela autonomia, por direitos e por respeito. Para muitos trabalhadores tais formas de luta cotidiana podem ser a única opção disponível. O artigo propõe um referencial teórico-metodológico para compreender este amplo leque de formas cotidianas, fragmentadas e difusas de resistência.
A idéia central deste artigo é a de que neste momento no qual os discursos de sustentabilidade atingiram o centro da política ambiental internacional, é hora de dar uma pausa e examinar mais detalhadamente a agenda política e intelectual que eles propõem. Com este objetivo, examinamos neste trabalho os discursos através dos quais a sustentabilidade, e os direitos à natureza e os direitos da natureza, são expressos, sugerindo que a sustentabilidade, como um conceito estabelecido, tem freqüentemente disfarçado, em vestimentas mais novas, alguns velhos conflitos do passado. Defendemos também que a sustentabilidade tem, até agora, sido uma propriedade de diferentes discursos que estavam em luta. Somente a exposição dos pressupostos e conclusões desses discursos pode nos ajudar a clarear as escolhas e compromissos que envolvem a política ambiental e a abordagem das ciências sociais ambientais.
Nosso objetivo principal neste artigo é o de analisar a implementação das tecnologias de cisternas de placas na região semiárida da Paraíba, com foco no Programa Um Milhão de Cisternas (P1MC), discutindo em que medida o mesmo contribuiu para a sustentabilidade hídrica para as comunidades rurais atingidas. Nosso objeto empírico foi o município de Catolé do Rocha-PB, sendo feita entrevistas com beneficiários e coordenadores do programa analisado. Com base no observado, as principais conclusões são as a seguintes: a) a proposta de implantação das cisternas pela ASA implica um alto custo econômico para os ‘beneficiários’; b) o programa produz e reproduz as relações do clientelismo político, as quais são (re)significadas; c) o P1MC representa uma estratégia ineficiente no que tange à melhoria do acesso e uso à água na região estudada, sendo a substituição da indústria do carro-pipa por uma política de cunho universalista ainda é algo distante de ser materializado; e, por fim, d) o P1MC contribui para reforçar a ideologia da naturalização da ‘escassez’ de água na região Nordeste, sendo seu custo social invisível aos beneficiários do programa.
O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar como se configura a ação dos discursos “demonizadores” construídos pela Igreja Católica em relação ao Programa Bolsa Família (PBF) na região semiárida da Paraíba. A metodologia é qualitativa, examinando-se discursos produzidos por representantes da Igreja Católica. Encontrou-se elementos de desqualificação e condenação ao mesmo tempo em que exaltam o tradicional mecanismo de assistencialismo católico – enunciado em torno do discurso da caridade. A perspectiva teórica adotada se inspira em Simmel ([1905]1998); Singer (2012; 2016) e Bello (2016). Dentre as conclusões destacamos: a) a articulação de um discurso avaliativo do PBF com efeitos negativos construídos por um ideário neoliberal, da caridade e de um assistencialismo reinventado; e b) a proposta de maior racionalização burocrática no processo de cadastramento e recadastramento das famílias a serem beneficiadas com o referido programa.
Constitui nosso objetivo principal, neste artigo, analisar a proposta de gerenciamento racional dos recursos hídricos, desmistificando alguns aspectos do discurso construído em torno da escassez dos mesmos no Brasil e no mundo. Para realizar tal tarefa, partimos de uma concepção teórico-crítica que discute a emergência do mercado de recursos hídricos, investigando os pontos obscuros da proposta mencionada.
