This study aimed to raise awareness of maker education for pre-service teachers and discuss maker education in their major subjects by developing and applying a maker education course for pre-service teachers with various majors based on novel engineering (NE), a teaching and learning method that combines humanities and engineering. Accordingly, the course was developed following the procedure of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model, and the educational effectiveness was investigated using test tools. The educational effect and difficulties were also examined through the analysis of reflective journals written by 20 pre-service teachers with various majors who participated in the course. To investigate the educational effectiveness of the developed course, the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) literacy of the participants—before and after the course—was measured, with the results demonstrating a statistically significant improvement. Analysis of the reflective journals identified a recognition of sharing effectiveness, the joy of making, and an in-depth understanding of maker education as education effects, and a lack of understanding of techniques, the burden of prototype fabrication, and the limitation of majoring subjects as difficulties experienced during the activities. This study verified that NE could be used as a significant maker education measure for pre-service teachers with various majors. Based on this verification, this study also proposes a strategy to develop more effective NE-based maker education.
The purpose of this research is to verify the influence of STEM integrate education using educational robots on improvement of the level of attitude towards Mathematics. The following hypothesis was formulated in order to achieve this purpose: There will be a meaningful difference in the level of attitude towards Mathematics between elementary school students educated by STEM integrated education with robots and by the traditional method of teaching Mathematics. To prove this hypothesis, 56 of first grade students were tested under the nonequivalent control group in the pretest-posttest designs. As a result of the study, it is showed that STEM integrated education has a positive effect on promoting the level of elementary school students' attitude towards Mathematics. Therefore, we need the instructional activities which can combine the knowledge gained from a variety of curriculum with activities by using educational robots.▸Keyword : 교육용 로봇(Educati onal Robot), STEM 통합교육(STEM Integration Education), 수학과 태도(Mathemati cs Attitude)
In this paper, we propose a Science subject program based on programming learning to improve computational thinking ability in middle school. As the necessity of software education rises recently, the subject of information was designated as the mandatory subject in elementary, middle and high schools. In order to cultivate the ability that enables the leaners to search the knowledge in need by themselves and raise troubleshooting method, not the existing indoctrination, his thesis was willing to improve Computational Thinking ability and improve the ability of considering and thinking the matters by using scratch language. For that, this thesis developed and suggested science subject program that utilizes the programming learning.
