Resumo O presente estudo objetivou conhecer em que medida os valores humanos e os traços de personalidade se correlacionam com atributos desejáveis do(a) parceiro(a) ideal entre heterossexuais. Participaram 205 pessoas (100 mulheres e 105 homens) da população geral de João Pessoa (PB). Estes responderam aos seguintes instrumentos: Questionário dos Valores Básicos, Inventário dos Cinco Grandes Fatores e Escala de Atributos do Parceiro Ideal, além de perguntas sociodemográficas. Os valores se correlacionaram de forma teoricamente esperada com os atributos, sendo mais preponderantes do que os traços de personalidade. Quando comparados, homens e mulheres diferiram na importância dada a tais atributos. Finalmente, mostrouse adequado o modelo hierárquico traços de personalidade → valores → atributos. Estes resultados foram discutidos tomando como referência a perspectiva evolucionista da escolha de parceiro e a teoria funcionalista dos valores humanos.

Resumo Este estudo objetivou conhecer as evidências da estrutura interna da Dispositional Greed Scale (DGS) e os parâmetros de seus itens. Contou-se com a participação de 338 pessoas com média de idade de 26,5 anos (DP = 8,18), que responderam a DGS e perguntas demográficas. Os resultados indicaram uma solução unifatorial da DGS (Ω = 0,75). Análises via Teoria de Resposta ao Item demonstraram que os itens da DGS discriminam adequadamente os participantes e exigem baixa a moderada quantidade de traço latente para serem endossados. Ademais, detectou-se funcionamento diferencial, quanto à variável sexo, em apenas um item da DGS que apresentou impacto reduzido nas curvas características do teste total. Conclui-se que a DGS reúne evidências que corroboram sua qualidade psicométrica, podendo ser utilizada em estudos futuros que objetivem mensurar a ganância no contexto brasileiro.

All responded to CaSRS and to demographic questions. The analysis of the main components demonstrated a bifactor structure, whose factors presented Cronbach's alphas (α) greater than .80 (g 1 ). This structure was corroborated by means of confirmatory factor analysis (for example, CFi =.87 and RMSEa =.08). Escala de Autoinforme de Trampa-Admisión: Evidencias de Validez Factorial y PrecisiónResumen El estudio tuvo como fin adaptar al contexto brasileño la Escala de Autoinforme de Trampa-Admisión (EaT-a), reuniendo evidencias de su validez factorial y consistencia interna. Participaron 441 estudiantes (m=16 años, 54.6% del sexo femenino), divididos al azar en dos grupos. Todos respondieron a EaT-a y a preguntas demográficas. RESUMOEste estudo teve como objetivo conhecer, por meio da ABSTRACT -Fatigue Assessment Scale: Diferential item functioning in Brazilian regionsThis study aimed to understand, through the Item Response Theory, the psychometric parameters and Differential Item Functioning (DIF) of the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS). There were 7,008 physicians participating, with a mean age of 47.3 years (SD=11.33), the majority being male (62.4%). We estimated the items' parameters through the Samejima Graded Response Model and the DIF by likelihood ratio, the pseudo-R2 statistics and the differences between the weights of the regressions (∆βs). Results showed good variation of the response thresholds (j) and good discrimination (a). Concerning the DIF, even considering the strictest criteria set forth in the literature, the findings showed a non-significant effect of the region in response to the items. In conclusion, probably the FAS does not have DIF, supporting its use in the Brazilian context.

ResumoEste estudo objetivou testar a dimensionalidade da Escala de Necessidade de Cognição (NCS-18), controlando o efeito dos itens negativos. Participaram 215 estudantes universitários de João Pessoa (PB), com média de idade de 20 anos (DP = 3,79), os quais responderam a NCS-18 e questões demográfi cas. Testaram-se três modelos: M1 (modelo unifatorial convencional), M2 (modelo bifatorial, com itens positivos e negativos saturando em fatores separados) e M3 (modelo unifatorial, sendo controlado o efeito de itens negativos). Os resultados mostraram que os modelos M2 e M3 apresentaram melhores indicadores de ajuste quando comparados ao M1; porém, o M3 foi também superior ao M2. Concluiu-se, portanto, que a NCS-18 é mais bem representada por meio de uma estrutura unifatorial, especialmente quando é controlado o efeito de itens negativos. AbstractThis study aimed at testing the dimensionality of the Need for Cognition Scale (NCS-18), controlling the effect of negative items. Participants were 215 undergraduate students from João Pessoa (PB) with mean age of 20 years (SD = 3.79). They answered the NCS-18 and demographic questions. Three models were tested: M1 (conventional one-factor model), M2 (two-factor, with positive and negative items loading in separate factors), and M3 (one-factor model, controlling for the effect of negative items). Results showed that M2 and M3 models had better fi t indexes compared to M1. Nevertheless, M3 also had better fi t indexes than M2. In conclusion, evidence that the NCS-18 is more adequately represented by one-factor model was observed, especially when the effect of negative items is controlled. Resumidamente, a NFC pode ser defi nida como a tendência de o indivíduo se engajar em atividades que exijam esforço analítico (Cacioppo & Petty, 1982). Ademais, cabe ressaltar a estabilidade temporal deste construto, sendo assim compreendido como uma característica de personalidade, descrevendo pessoas que tendem a se envolver em atividades cognitivas, obtendo satisfação com a sua realização (Cacioppo, Petty, Feinstein, & Jarvis, 1996;Silva & Garcia-Marques, 2006). Nesta direção, estudos vêm sendo desenvolvidos com o fi m de conhecer em que medida a NFC se relaciona com os cinco grandes fatores da personalidade. A propósito, Sadowski e Cogburn (1997) encontraram correlações desse construto com abertura à mudança (r = 0,50, p < 0,001), conscienciosidade (r = 0,40, p < 0,001) e neuroticismo (r = -0,36, p < 0,001). O presente estudo objetivou validar a Forms of Bullying Scale (FBS) ao contexto brasileiro, reunindo evidências de validade e precisão. Participaram 377 estudantes do ensino fundamental de duas escolas municipais de João Pessoa, Paraíba, cuja média de idade era de 12,8 anos (DP=1,44), sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (52,4%), que responderam a FBS e perguntas sociodemográficas. Uma análise fatorial confirmatória corroborou a estrutura de dois fatores da medida (χ²/gl=2,34, GFI=0,90, RMSEA=0,06), que se mostrou invariante em relação ao sexo dos participantes (∆RMSEA<0,01). Observaram-se indicadores de confiabilidade adequados para os dois fatores: perpetração (α=0,80 e CC=0,81) e vitimização (α=0,83 e CC=0,83), que também mostraram evidências de validade convergente e discriminante a partir da variância média extraída (VME). Conclui-se que foram encontrados parâmetros psicométricos adequados dessa medida, justificando seu uso no contexto brasileiro. Palavras-chave: bullying; escala; validação. ABSTRACT-Forms of Bullying Scale: Evidence of construct validity of the brazilian version This study aimed to validate the Forms of Bullying Scale (FBS) to the Brazilian context, gathering evidence of validity and accuracy. Participants were 377 elementary students from two schools from João Pessoa-PB. Their average age was 12.8 years (SD=1.44), mostly female (52.4%), having answered the FBS and sociodemographic questions. A two-factor structure was corroborated by a confirmatory factor analysis (χ²/df=2.34, GFI=0.90, RMSEA=0.06), which was invariant according to participants' gender (∆RMSEA<0.01). Adequate reliability coefficients were observed for the two factors: Perpetration (α=0.80 and CR=0.81) and victimization (α=0.83 and CR=0.83), which also showed evidence of convergent and discriminant validity. In conclusion, this scale gathering adequate psychometric parameters, justifying its use in the Brazilian context.

The aim of this study was to examine the role played by the extroversion and social self-concept in the relationship between internet addiction and social media burnout. 200 individuals from the Brazilian general population between the ages of 18 and 45 participated and responded to the Compulsive Internet Use Scale, the Social Media Burnout Scale, the Multidimensional Self-Concept Scale, and a scale of reduced markers for personality assessment. The data were analyzed with the SPSS software. Results showed positive and statistically significant correlations between internet addiction and social media burnout, as well as negative correlations between both variables with social self-concept and extroversion. Furthermore, social self-concept had a significant indirect effect on the relationship between Internet addiction and social media burnout by appearing to mediate this relationship. This study contributes to the endorsement of the literature on the subject and prompts consideration of interventions needed by psychologists to promote social skills and appropriate internet use.

This study aimed to investigate evidence for the internal structure of the 20 item Basic Empathy Scale (BES-20), and verify the parameters of each of its items. The participants totaled 300 subjects from the community sample who answered both the BES-20 and demographic questions. The results indicated a two-factor measure involving: affective empathy (α = .84 and ω =.84) and cognitive empathy (α =.84 and ω =.84). Analyses using Item Response Theory demonstrated that the items of the BES-20 properly discriminated between participants, requiring low levels of latent trait for agreement/checking-off responses in each category. In addition, we developed a 10 item (short-form) version (BES-10) which when compared to the full version yielded equivalent psychometric parameters and information scores. Overall, both the BES-20 and BES-10 were confirmed as qualified for psychometric use in future studies to measure empathy in Brazil.
