Avaliação: Double Blind Review pelo SEER/OJSRESUMO O presente artigo teve como objetivo analisar o desempenho do capital de giro das empresas listadas na BM&Fbovespa e classificadas como pertencentes ao setor de siderurgia durante o período de 2010 a 2014. No total, foram cinco empresas analisadas e, por meio de suas médias, foi calculado o desempenho do setor. Desse modo, por meio de uma comparação entre os modelos tradicionais e dinâmicos do capital de giro, utilizando, para isso, de uma metodologia descritiva de estudo multicaso, os resultados encontrados sugerem que as empresas apresentaram, em média, uma estrutura de capital de giro sustentável financeiramente e, para algumas empresas, os anos de 2012, 2013 e 2014 apresentaram significativas reduções em seu desempenho.Palavras-chave: avaliação, capital de giro, modelo tradicional, modelo dinâmico, setor siderúrgico.
ABSTRACT
Com base no pressuposto teórico dos modelos de agência que postula sobre a relação entre estrutura de capital corporativa e estilo de gestão dos CEO's, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar quais características individuais dos CEO's quanto à idade, sexo, tempo de mandato na empresa, presença de relação familiar, tipo de remuneração e curso de graduação obtido influenciam na estrutura de capital corporativa das empresas listadas no IBrX-100 da BM&FBOVESPA no período de 2009 a 2013, mantendo fatores relacionados às características da firma constantes. A metodologia aplicada foi dados em painel dinâmico de dois estágios com estimador de GMM sistêmico. Os resultados encontrados pelo modelo de regressão sugeriram que os CEO's tendem a imprimir seu estilo de gestão, uma vez que o "curso de graduação" foi a variável mais significativa, demonstrando que CEO's com curso de graduação na área de exatas (engenharias) e na área de negócios (contabilidade, economia e administração) apresentaram maior alavancagem no longo prazo.

RESUMOObjetivo: Identificar variáveis determinantes da estrutura de capital de empresas em geral (tanto de capital aberto quanto fechado) bem como desenvolver modelos econométricos que expliquem a relação entre as variáveis determinantes identificadas e a estrutura de capital das empresas estudadas (considerando diferentes horizontes temporais). Fundamento: Trata-se de um estudo baseado nas principais teorias de estrutura de capital, a tradeoff theory (TOT) e a pecking order theory (POT). Método: Realizou-se uma análise de 126 empresas de capital fechado pertencentes a 17 diferentes setores de atividade econômica conforme a Classificação Nacional de Atividades Econômicas [CNAE] por um período de 4 anos. Foram coletadas demonstrações financeiras publicadas no Diário Oficial de Estado de Minas Gerais. Utilizou-se o modelo de regressão múltipla com dados em painel.
