One of the major problems that basketball for players with intellectual impairment (II) is facing nowadays is the lack of evidence-based eligibility systems which ensures that only athletes with significant limitations performing basketball participate in II-competitions. Moreover, to solve this situation is needed to re-include this sport in the Paralympic Program. A first step to develop these systems is to investigate how II influences basketball performance. Due to this, the purpose of this study was to analyze experienced II-basketball coaches´ and referees´ opinion about how II impact on fundamental basketball activities. 40 coaches and 6 referees from different levels of II-competition completed a questionnaire designed “ad hoc” to assess their opinion about the influence of II on fundamental basketball activities. Participants expressed that II-players present limitations to carry out the 92.68% of the activities from the questionnaire. Mean values of offensive individual tactics were significantly higher than technical skills and defensive individual tactics. These results indicated that II-players present limitations performing basketball and they are relevant to orientate future research to develop evidence-based eligibility systems in this sport.
AbstractThe paper presents a descriptive analysis of the students' opinion about the current university reality in the process of change promoted by Bologna Plan. The study was carried out in the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport -INEF of the Technical University of Madrid. A validated questionnaire was administered to a sample composed by 282 students immersed in the Bologna Plan, and 203 students immersed in the one before. Results show differences according to the curriculum followed. In general terms students belonging to Bologna Plan showed more positive scores than students belonging to the plan before in regard of all analyzed aspects.
Abstract. The aims of this study were to analyze differences in motivational orientation, intrinsic motivation, dispositional flow and intention to be physically active among Argentine, Spanish, Colombian, and Ecuadorian adolescents; and to analyze the predictive role of the aforementioned motivational variables on the future intention to be physically active. The sample was composed by 3,990 students aged 12 to 18 (M = 14.55, SD = 1.74) who completed questionnaires that were previously validated and used in Spanish contexts. Results of ANCOVAs showed significant differences between participants from the analyzed countries, although the effect size was very small in all of them. The greatest similarities were observed between Spanish and Argentinians, as well as between Colombians and Ecuadorians. Stepwise regression analyses showed that both intrinsic motivation and dispositional flow emerged as the main predictors of future intention to be physically active, as they both explained from 34% to 52% of the variance. The findings of the present study suggested the existence of similar motivational patterns among adolescents from different countries. Outcomes also highlighted the important role of dispositional flow in the prediction of future intentions to be physically active regardless of the country.
