In order to analyse the sports psychology of athletes and to identify the psychology of athletes in their movements, a human action recognition (HAR) algorithm has been designed in this study. First, a HAR model is established based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify the current action state by analysing the action information of a task in the collected videos. Secondly, the psychology of basketball players displaying fake actions during the offensive and defensive process is investigated by combining with related sports psychological theories. Then, the psychology of athletes is also analysed through the collected videos, so as to predict the next response action of the athletes. Experimental results show that the combination of grayscale and red-green-blue (RGB) images can reduce the image loss and effectively improve the recognition accuracy of the model. The optimised convolutional three-dimensional network (C3D) HAR model designed in this study has a recognition accuracy of 80% with an image loss of 5.6. Besides, the time complexity is reduced by 33%. Therefore, the proposed optimised C3D can recognise effectively human actions, and the results of this study can provide a reference for the investigation of the image recognition of human action in sports.

BackgroundBall possessions and game rhythm are promising variables to better understand teams' collective behaviour during a basketball game. However, the role of these variables is not well documented in teams with intellectual impairments (II). This study aimed to explore ball possession and game rhythm differences between II and non‐II basketball games.MethodsData were obtained through video observations (53 II games) and the International Basketball Federation records (53 non‐II games).ResultsIndependent t‐tests (P ≤ 0.05) revealed that the number of ball possessions was higher and game rhythm was faster in II games. Two‐way repeated‐measures analysis of variance (P ≤ 0.05) showed that ball possessions and game rhythm developed differently throughout the II games compared with the non‐II games.ConclusionsThe differences may be due to the decision‐making, tactical and self‐regulatory limitations of players with II. These limitations adequately explain why players with II respond differently to the environmental cues and monitor insufficiently their actions compared with players without II. Additionally, the higher number of ball possessions and the faster game rhythm in II games could be an indicator of more intuitive, and thus faster, game‐related decision‐making. In conclusion, the study provides further understanding of the role of cognition in basketball and contributes to better explain the differences between II and non‐II games.

The background of this research is that there are still some basketball referees and coaches whose level of understanding is still lacking in the rules of the basketball game, seen during the game process, there are often debates between coaches and referees. The purpose of this study was to see the differences in the understanding of referees and basketball coaches throughout Riau on the rules in basketball games. This type of research is a comparative descriptive research, namely research that compares two different variables. The method used in this study is a survey method and data collection techniques using true-false tests. The population in this study were referees and coaches throughout Riau. The research sample was taken using a random sampling technique, totaling 25 trainers and 16 referees who were active throughout Riau Province. The results of this study obtained a sig value of 0.141 (p>0.05). So it can be concluded if there is no difference in the understanding of the referees and basketball coaches in Riau on basketball rules. If in hypothesis 1 it is said that there is no difference in understanding because the sig results obtained are p> 0.05. This happened because the average understanding of the coach and referee were both in the medium category. Research contributes to education, especially in the basketball branch, where this research can be known and understood by referees and coaches, so that in a basketball game a conducive game will be created.
