La pregunta por los impactos de los procesos de acreditación concita gran atención en el debate sobre aseguramiento de la calidad (AC) en educación superior. Se trata de una pregunta que, a la luz de la evidencia empírica y la literatura especializada, no tiene una respuesta fácil. En el artículo planteamos que existen diversas consideraciones que deben ser vistas para su análisis; también sugerimos ciertas proposiciones aplicables especialmente en el contexto nacional. En cualquier caso, el interés de conocer y promover la dimensión de los impactos del AC y la acreditación en Chile no debiera perder de vista que la riqueza de la acreditación sigue estando en el genuino ejercicio del proceso en sí mismo, como un proceso más, entre otros, necesario para fortalecer nuestra educación superior.

REsUmENEste artículo sintetiza parte de una investigación que abordó el problema de la publicidad engañosa en universidades chilenas. Mediante la revisión de la literatura, el examen a la publicidad en prensa escrita y opiniones de especialistas y estudiantes, se levantó un marco conceptual, un panorama de la publicidad y su regulación en Chile, y se discutieron sus alcances desde el punto de vista de las políticas públicas. La regulación de la publicidad -y la promoción de la información y de la transparencia, en general-es clave para sentar las bases de confianza del sistema. Se propone para lo anterior no solo un mayor control estatal, sino también una fuerte autorregulación y empoderamiento de los estudiantes y demás actores del sistema.Palabras clave: publicidad en educación superior, universidades chilenas, publicidad engañosa.
