The aim of this research was to examine the effect of GeoGebra-aided REACT strategy on the understanding of geometry concepts and to investigate the interaction between learning strategy and spatial ability on the understanding of geometry concepts. This research involved 60 students of Grade 8 at a private Junior High School in Borong, province of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The quasi-experimental research with control class without pre-test was done. Prior to the experiment, spatial ability test was conducted to group students into high and low spatial ability. The research data were obtained from a test consisting of five questions to measure students' understanding of geometry concepts. The data were then analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results of the research show that 1) the GeoGebra-aided REACT strategy leads to a higher achievement of the students on the understanding of geometry concepts if compared to student in conventional groups (expository), and 2) there was no interaction effect between the learning strategy and spatial ability on students' understanding of geometry concepts. The research recommended that GeoGebra-aided REACT strategy can be used in mathematics teaching in Junior High School to improve students' conceptual understanding of geometry concepts.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penerapan model blended learning terhadap pemahaman konsep dan kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen semu dengan rancangan posttest only control group design. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Sukawati tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 2 kelas dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Model pembelajaran blended learning yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah flipped classrrom model dengan Edmodo yang digunakan sebagai media pendukung dalam pembelajaran online. Pemahaman konsep dan kelancaran prosedur matematis diukur menggunakan tes berbentuk soal uraian yang valid dan reliabel. Selanjutnya data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji MANOVA dengan taraf signifikan 5% (α = 0,05). Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran blended learning berpengaruh positif terhadap pemahaman konsep dan kelancaran prosedur matematis siswa.The effect of blended learning model toward mathematical conceptual understanding and procedural fluencyAbstractThis study aimed to describe the effect of implementing a blended learning model toward mathematical conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. Furthermore, the data obtained were analyzed by using the MANOVA test with 5% significance level (α = 0.05). This study aimed at finding out the effect of Treffinger creative learning model with RME principles on creative thinking skills by controlling numerical ability. This study was conducted to the fifth grade students of elementary schools in Manggarai regency using post-test only control group design of experiment. This study involved 101 fifth grade students as sample who were selected by using random sampling technique. The instruments were numeric ability test and creative thinking skill test. Data were analyzed by using ANCOVA aided by SPSS 23.0 program. The results showed that 1) the creative thinking skill of the students who learned mathematics Treffinger creative learning model with RME principles was higher than those who learned mathematics through conventional model, 2) the creative thinking skill of the students who learned through Treffinger creative learning model with RME principles was higher than those who learned through conventional learning model, after controlling numeric ability, 3) numeric ability gives a 33,2% contribution to the students' creative thinking skill. These findings show that Treffinger creative learning model with RME principles has a significant effect on the students' creative thinking skill. Mathematics teachers are suggested to employ this model in developing students' creative thinking skill.
Many teachers experience difficulties in starting an instruction and in how to make the students learn appropriately. Meanwhile, the teacher has to make the students learn in order the teaching conforms to the four pillars of education according to UNESCO, i.e.: learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together in peace and harmony. In relation to this, a study was conducted to the students of primary schools in Singaraja to see the effectiveness of BLCS model (Bruner, Local Culture, and Scaffolding) in the teaching of mathematics through a measurement using Expert System -based CSE-UCLA. The effectiveness of the teaching model was seen from learning activities, learning achievement, and the students" response to the teaching. Data were collected through observation, test and questionnaire and were then analyzed descriptively. The results show that BLCS model is an effective model to be used in the teaching of mathematics.
Abstrak. Penelitian ini berawal dari rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual. Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah tersebut dikarenakan siswa belum mampu mengaitkan dan mengaplikasikan materi yang mereka pelajari untuk menyelesaikan masalah nyata khususnya materi trigonometri. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model ICARE berbantuan GeoGebra untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas X SMA khusus materi trigonometri. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berupa buku siswa dan buku petunjuk guru. Penelitian ini mengacu pada model penelitian pengembangan Plomp yang terdiri dari 5 tahap yaitu investigasi awal, desain, realisasi/konstruksi, evaluasi dan revisi, implementasi. Penelitian ini baru dilaksanakan sampai tahap evaluasi dan revisi, sedangkan tahap implementasi akan dikaji pada paper selanjutnya. Untuk melihat efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran dilakukan 3 tahap uji coba yaitu uji coba terbatas, uji coba lapangan I dan uji coba lapangan II. Berdasarkan pengembangan yang telah dilaksanakan, diperoleh bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis model ICARE berbantuan GeoGebra efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.
Abstrak. Perkembangan teknologi dalam pendidikan dapat digunakan untuk memberikan inovasi dalam pembelajaran matematika, salah satunya yaitu adanya buku elektronik yang interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan berbasis buku elektronik interaktif berbantuan geogebra. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Pengembangan buku elektronik interaktif ini didesain dengan menggunakan aplikasi ibooks author dan berformat HTML. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan Plomp, yang terdiri dari 5 tahap, yaitu investigasi awal, desain, realisasi/konstruksi, tes, evaluasi, dan revisi, dan implementasi, namun dalam penelitian ini, penelitian hanya sampai pada tahap tes, evaluasi, dan revisi. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu SMA Negeri di Sukawati. Subjek penelitian yaitu 108 siswa dengan melakukan 3 tahap uji coba. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu berupa lembar validitas buku elektronik interaktif, angket respon siswa, angket respon guru, lembar keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep matematis siswa meningkat dengan menggunakan buku elektronik interaktif berbantuan geogebra yang dikembangkan ini.
Abstrak. Penelitian ini berawal dari rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap materi fungsi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas media pembelajaran berbasis Model Bruner, Budaya Lokal, dan Scaffolding (B2LS) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep relasi dan fungsi. Penelitian mengacu pada metode pengembangan Plomp yang terdiri atas 3 fase: Preliminary Research, Prototyping, dan Assesment. Rangkaian fase melibatkan dua ahli pendidikan matematika, satu guru dan 105 siswa kelas VIII SMPN Denpasar sebagai subjek penelitian. Media yang dikembangkan berupa media pembelajaran berbasis TIK dengan aplikasi Autoplay Media Studio. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui lembar validasi, lembar kepraktisan, angket respons dan tes pemahaman yang selanjutnya dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep relasi dan fungsi. Hal ini didasarkan pada karakteristik media yaitu: siswa mengkonstruksi pemahamannya melalui teori Bruner, konsepsi jengah untuk mendukung peningkatan pemahaman konsep, dan scaffolding untuk membantu memahami konsep lebih jelas. Sehingga melalui media pembelajaran ini, siswa akan mudah memahami konsep relasi fungsi dan termotivasi dalam menyelesaikan masalah.
