ResumenEl fruto de chirimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) es muy susceptible al deterioro poscosecha debido a su naturaleza climatérica. Con el fin de observar el efecto antisenescente del resveratrol (RVS), éste bioregulador vegetal se aplicó en frutos de 'Fino de Jete' y 'Bronceada' a 1,6; 0,16; 0,016 y 0 mM a los 0, 8 y 15 días antes de la cosecha (DAC). A los 1, 7 y 15 días después de la cosecha (DDC) se analizaron variables bioquímicas y biofísicas. Al termino de 15 días de almacenamiento a temperatura ambiente, en relación al control, 1,6 mM RVS, aplicado 15 DAC, disminuyó el ablandamiento del fruto 78% para chirimoya 'Fino de Jete' y 54% para 'Bronceada'. A los 15 DDC se realizó la evaluación sensorial a frutos tratados 8 y 15 DAC, los resultados mostraron que los frutos de mayor aceptación fueron los tratados con 1,6 mM RVS ya sea a los 8 y 15 DAC, al ser calificados como de mejor aspecto, aroma y sabor. AbstractDue to its climateric behavior, the cherimoya fruit (Annona cherimola Mill.) is a very perishable commodity. Present research aimed to observe the anti-senescence effect of resveratrol (RVS); this plant bioregulator was applied at 1.6, 0.16, 0.016 and 0 mM at 0, 8 and 15 days before harvest (DBH). At 1, 7 and 15 days of postharvest life, several physical and biochemical determinations were performed on the cherimoya fruit. After 15 days under room temperature conditions, in relation to control fruit, those fruit with 1.6 mM RVS applied 15 DBH reduced skin softening rate 78% and 54% for 'Fino de Jete' and 'Bronceada', respectively. Similarly, after 15 days of storage, a non-trained group of tasters preferred those fruit treated with 1.6 mM RVS 15 DBH; they qualified the fruit as better than the control fruit in presentation, aroma and taste.

Durante 2008 y 2009 se evaluaron seis cultivares de maíz bajo tres densidades de población en Toluca, México, con el objetivo de conocer su índice de área foliar, coeficiente de atenuacióndeluz,radiacióninterceptada,eficienciaeneluso de la radiación y rendimiento de grano. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar con arreglo en parcelas divididas, las parcelas grandes correspondieron a las densidades de población (6.9, 7.8 y 8.9 plantas m-2) y las subparcelas a los cultivares (‘Amarillo’, ‘Cacahuacintle’, ‘Jiquipilco’, ‘Z-60’, ‘Cóndor’y ‘H-50’). El análisis de varianza combinado detectó diferencias signif icativas entre años, densidades y cultivares para todas las variables,conexcepcióndelcoeficientedeatenuacióndeluzy radiación interceptada entre años. Las interacciones no fueron signif icativas, excepto en años × densidades en el índice de área foliar y en años × cultivares para rendimiento de grano. Entre años, el rendimiento promedio de los cultivares fue superior en 2008 (1 133 g m-2), 16.9% a 2009, debido al mayor número de granos m-2 (2 826) y a la eficiencia en el uso de la radiación (0.79 g MJ-1). Las mejores densidades de población fueron 7.8 y 8.9 plantas m-2 (rendimiento promedio de 1 081 y 1 096 g m-2, respectivamente) equivalente a 13.9% y 15.1% más que con 6.9 plantas m-2. Lo anterior fue consecuencia de los mejores promedios presentados por estas densidades de población en todas las variables bajo estudio. Entre cultivares, ‘Jiquipilco’, ‘Amarillo’ y ‘Cóndor’ presentaron el rendimiento promedio másaltocon1156,1076y1047gm-2.

Thirty-four accessions of wild grapevines, native to three regions of the state of Puebla, Mexico, that is Teziutlán, Tehuacán, and Atlixco, were vegetatively characterized with 32 suggested IPGRI, UPOV, and OIV descriptors related to young shoot (YS), mature shoot (MS), young leaf (YL), mature leaf (ML), and woody shoot (WS). Excepting profile and absence of sinus teeth in ML, the remaining parameters showed variation among the accessions. After the performance of a correlation analysis among the 32 characters, only those closely correlated were used; that is, for MS: color of dorsal side of node, density of prostrate trichomes of internode; for YL: density of prostrate trichomes between veins and density of erect trichomes on main veins; and for ML: general shape of petiole sinus and the density of erect trichomes on veins in mature leaves. With those six characters, six principal components explained the total variability observed. The most closely related descriptors for principal Component 1 were the ML general shape of petiole sinus (−0.735) and the YL density of erect trichomes on main veins (0.659), whereas for principal Component 2, the MS color of the dorsal side of the node (0.677) and the density of erect trichomes in ML (0.596) were the most highly related. A cluster analysis identified four groups with a euclidean distance of 18; except for plant 183, the other six included in Group 1 were native to the regions Atlixco and Tehuacán; Group 2 was formed by plants native to the three regions, whereas Group 3 was formed by plants native to Teziutlán and Atlixco; Group 4 was formed only by Plant 36, native to Atlixco. These results show that variation among accessions occurs within and among the three states of the Puebla region.

El rendimiento tanto de maíz y frijol en monocultivo está determinado por el genotipo y el ambiente. Sin embargo, la siembra asociada de estos cultivos puede incrementar la producción por unidad de área. No obstante, el efecto de competencia interespecifica donde el frijol es más afectado y que se asume al sombreado del maíz sobre el frijol ha sido poco atendido. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el efecto de la defoliación del maíz sobre la biomasa total (BT), índice de cosecha (IC), rendimiento (RG) y componentes del frijol y maíz en asociación. El experimento fue conducido en Montecillo, México, durante los ciclos primavera verano de 2010 y 2011, con diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar, con cuatro repeticiones. Los días a ocurrencia a las etapas fenológicas en frijol y maíz, fue similar entre tratamientos. La BT e IC así como el RG y componentes en frijol y maíz mostraron cambios significativos por efecto del año, defoliación e interacción año*defoliación. En frijol el RG más alto se observó en 2010 el cual superó 36% a 2011. En ambos años con la defoliación del estrato superior (DES) se logró el RG más alto y los más bajos correspondieron al tratamiento sin defoliación (SD). En maíz, el RG en 2010 fue superior 37% al de 2011. Los tratamientos defoliación total de láminas (DTP) y DES, provocaron un abatimiento del RG de 15%.

Aiming to evaluate sowing densities and efficiency of radiation use, six corn genotypes, three from open pollination (“Amarillo Almoloya,” “Cacahuacintle,” and “Jiquipilco”) and three hybrids (“Z-60,” “Condor,” and “H-50”), were sown at densities of 6.9, 7.8, and 8.9 plants m−2, under a split plot design, within a factorial arrangement of treatments during three years (2008, 2009, and 2010). Evaluated variables were yield, harvest index, biomass production, attenuation coefficient, and radiation use efficiency. Results indicate that 2008 was the best year because yield, biomass, and radiation use efficiency were 1132.6, 3505 gm−2, and 0.79 g MJ−1, respectively. “Jiquipilco” was the genotype that exhibited the best adaptability to climatic conditions of the zone; thus, it is recommended to be grown on the studied zone.
