This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of affective commitment on the relationship between personality and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in a non-Western culture. We attempt to increase understanding of how personality and work attitudes affect OCB in a culture where relationships are highly valued. Data collected among employees in an Indonesian cement factory indicate that affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between extraversion and OCB directed at individuals (OCB-I) and at the organization (OCB-O), and also partially mediates the relationship between emotional stability and OCB-O. We confirm the importance of examining work attitudes in personality-OCB relationships in collective cultures.

AbstrakEfektivitas tim kerja ditentukan oleh kemampuan anggota tim dalam berkomunikasi, bekerjasama, membagi informasi dan toleransi pada perbedaan yang terdapat di dalam tim. Semua kemampuan-kemampuan tersebut tercakup dalam perilaku extra-role, yang juga dikenal dengan istilah organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat anteseden OCB pada subyek karyawan di industri proses Indonesia. Dari analisis regresi berganda diketahui bahwa trait kepribadian dan komitmen organisasi berpengaruh cukup besar terhadap OCB di Indonesia. All the abilities are examples of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The purpose of this research is to investigate antecedents of OCB on employees in a process industry in Indonesia. The result showed the significant effects of trait personality and organizational commitment on OCB in Indonesia.

Abstract. This study investigated the mediating effect of on-the-job embeddedness on the relationship between trust in supervisor and turnover. Survey data were collected among 471 employees of a restaurant chain in Indonesia. Results showed that job embeddedness mediated the relationship between trust in supervisor and turnover intentions. Turnover intentions were positively correlated with actual voluntary turnover 15 months later. The results confirmed that the trustworthiness of supervisors affects the quality of the relationships between supervisors and employees. Hence, low levels of trust must be addressed as soon as possible in order to maintain a healthy environment in which employees are able to develop their job embeddedness.

This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of affective commitment on the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention in international school teachers. Data were collected through questionnaire from 80 teachers in an international school in Jakarta, Indonesia, which indicated that affective commitment fully mediated the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention. Theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efek mediasi iklim etis pada pengaruh kepemimpinan etis dan komitmen afektif pada sebuah lembaga pemerintahan di Indonesia. Data diperoleh dari karyawan tetap dan pegawai negeri sipil yang dikaryakan (N = 100), dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik regresi dari macro PROCESS Hayes pada SPSS versi 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persepsi karyawan pada kepemimpinan etis berpengaruh positif dan signifikan pada komitmen afektif karyawan (total ef-fect=0.8387, SE=0.0544, 95% CI[0.7307, 0.9468)). Selanjutnya iklim etis berperan sebagai mediator pada hubungan antara kepemimpinan etis dan komitmen afektif (indirect effect=0.1696, SE=0.0406, 95% CI[0.1031, 0.2626)). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan etis berpengaruh secara tidak langsung pada komitmen afektif lewat iklim etis.

This research aimed to investigate the predictive validity of perceived supervisor support and servant leadership on voluntary turnover. Data were taken from employees and ex-employees of five batches of the development program in a company in Jakarta, Indonesia (N = 92). The data were analyzed using a logistic regression technique on Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The results show that both perceived supervisor support and servant leadership are negatively related to voluntary turnover. The servant leadership accounts for more variance on voluntary turnover and perceived supervisor support. The theoretical and practical implications of the findings are further discussed.

Given the key role that entrepreneurs play in a country’s economic growth, there is a need to study how entrepreneurs innovate for their firm’s survival. This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of proactive personality on the relationship between core self-evaluations (CSE) and innovative behaviors among microentrepreneurs. Data was obtained from a survey administered to 307 micro entrepreneurs in Jakarta, Indonesia and its surrounding cities. Data was tested using Hayes’ PROCESS macro on SPSS. Results showed that proactive personality mediated the relationship between CSE and innovative behavior, whereby CSE leads to proactive personality, which in turn influences innovative behavior. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are further discussed
