Saber elaborar buenas preguntas en las clases de ciencias para promover en el estudiantado competencias de pensamiento científico (CPC) es un conocimiento necesario e indiscutible entre el profesorado. Sin embargo, esta afirmación no siempre es una realidad. En especial, para la enseñanza de asignaturas experimentales tiene impactos relevantes, ya que una buena pregunta está en el bosquejo del proceso creativo de la ciencia y puede promover en el estudiantado procesos mentales de orden superior, am-pliando límites de libertad para la resolución de dichas preguntas. Este estudio se fundamenta en las dificultades identificadas por el propio profesorado de biología, para crear, utilizar e intencionar en sus clases preguntas que promuevan el pensamiento científico en el estudiantado (Zohar, 2006).
El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la relación entre el nivel de razonamiento científico (NRC) y variables académicas de pre-ingreso de 158 estudiantes de primer año en cinco carreras de pedagogía en una universidad pública chilena. Este estudio forma parte de los instrumentos que contribuyen a la evaluación inicial nacional diagnóstica considerando los nuevos requerimientos de la ley de carrera docente. La metodología se enmarcó en un estudio transeccional correlacional-causal. Para diagnosticar el NRC, se aplicó el Test de Lawson adaptado al contexto chileno y se diseñaron modelos de regresión multi-variable. Los resultados muestran la incidencia en el NRC de la variable sexo y variables académicas de pre-ingreso como puntajes en Prueba de Selección Universitaria (PSU) en Ciencias y Lenguaje; como también vías de acceso alternativas e inclusivas a las carreras de pedagogía. Se concluye que los niveles de razonamiento científico de los estudiantes que ingresan a carreras de pedagogía de primer año se ubican principalmente en niveles transicionales.
Resumen Es importante discutir sobre estrategias para desarrollar la competencia en formulación de buenas preguntas en la clase de ciencias en los estudiantes, puesto que éstas adquieren un rol protagónico en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Por esto, instalar estrategias concretas que promuevan la formulación de buenas preguntas, se plantea como un desafío para la investigación en didáctica de las ciencias. En este artículo, se analiza cómo las actividades que utilizan situaciones problema, favorecen la formulación de buenas preguntas en el discurso escrito del estudiantado de la escuela secundaria. Estas actividades se realizaron a lo largo de cuatro sesiones de clases, durante el desarrollo de la unidad didáctica de estructura y función de la membrana plasmática. Los resultados muestran que el estudiantado participante de esta investigación presenta mejoras en las preguntas abiertas que formula, aumentando progresivamente el nivel cognitivo de sus preguntas, según transcurre la unidad didáctica.
