This study aims to highlights the interactive effect between two different media in making voting decisions. Interaction between traditional and social media as the primary knowledge outlets adopted by students in decision making becomes the focus of the research. The study was conducted with the social context of the 2019 Indonesian General Election. The survey method used data from 1066 first-time voter college students at six public colleges in West Java, Indonesia. The results showed that social media that interact with television, radio, and newspapers significantly influenced voting decisions. The growing trend in online political talks significantly influenced the voting decision. It is worth noticing that the influence of the interaction used between social media and newspapers on voting decisions had a negative impact, thereby signifying that there was a decrease in the opportunity to vote using social media. This study shows the importance of interaction between social media as the primary political information source and traditional media to complement students' decision-making.

This article aims to illustrate the pattern of communication between legal Advisor and the defendant in court as one form of communication in the courtroom. This study addresses the research question: how is the communication pattern of legal advisor with the defendant in the courtroom at the Central Jakarta District Court. This research uses qualitative research approach, research method is ethnography of communication, with an interpretive paradigm. The results of this study indicate that communication between the legal advisor with the defendant in the courtroom begins at the time of the indictment hearing, the hearing, the prosecution and the verdict. The form of communication that emerged in the trial process through advocacy. Advocacy is a form of communication of legal Advisor with the defendant, with the primary objective of providing an understanding to the defendant about the legal information and the punishment that the defendant will receive.
Komunikasi merupakan sesuatu hal yang fundamental dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Peran dasar komunikasi adalah jembatan untuk membangun interaksi sosial. Komunikasi digunakan setiap manusia sebagai sarana dalam berinteraksi sosial, namun beberapa orang terkadang mengalami gangguan dalam berkomunikasi dengan faktor gangguan yang tentunya berbeda-beda. Salah satu orang yang mengalami gangguan komunikasi dalam berinteraksi yaitu anak berkemampuan khusus. Insan Berkemampuan Khusus (atau biasa dikenal oleh masyarakat umum sebagai manusia berkebutuhan khusus) telah resmi dicanangkan pada tanggal 3 Desember 2019, momentum hari Disabilitas Internasional yang jatuh setiap tanggal 3 Desember juga oleh Rumah Autis dianggap tepat untuk dijadikan hari Insan Berkemampuan Khusus atau IBK’s day. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian etnografi komunikasi.Hasil pengamatan dan wawancara yang didapat kemudian dianalisis menggunakan elemen yang terdapat pada etnografi komunikasi yang lebih dikenal dengan kata SPEAKING yang terdiri dari setting/scene, participants, ends, act sequence, keys, instrumentalities, norms of interaction, genre. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa masalah utama dari insan berkemampuan khusus terutama anak autis adalah masalah komunikasi, interaksi sosial dan perilaku. Komunikasi yang digunakan oleh anak autis sangat unik dan menarik serta karakteristik dari autisme ini sangatlah beragam.
The use of social media as a learning process is inevitable, as students need to be politically inclined. This study wants to contribute to the lack of research on the topic of political material. Complement the literature by evaluating the effects of social media use on political knowledge. The research used a cross-sectional survey method involving 508 undergraduate students of a distance learning program, Open University, Indonesia. They were 218 males (42.9%) and 290 females (57.1%). The study results showed that the use of social media influences political knowledge by mediating online discussions over different social media platforms. The more students use social media and discuss political issues, the higher their level of knowledge. The study implies that instructors can use social media to integrate the instructional design of relevant courses that facilitate political discussion to learn for the acquisition of students’ political knowledge.
