RESUMO -O presente estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de pesquisar o desempenho e quantificar a atividade das enzimas digestivas: amilase, lipase e tripsina, dos frangos de corte submetidos a diferentes níveis de energia, na dieta, e a diferentes doses de probiótico na ração. Foram utilizados 360 pintos da linhagem Hubbard, alimentados com dietas contendo 2.900 e 3.200 kcal EM/kg, associadas com a adição de 0, 200 e 400 ppm de probiótico (Bacillus subtilis -10 10 células viáveis esporuladas/grama de produto). Aos 14, 28 e 42 dias de idade, duas aves de cada unidade experimental foram abatidas, o pâncreas e o intestino delgado retirados, pesados e rapidamente congelados em nitrogênio líquido para posterior determinação das atividades enzimáticas. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em parcelas subdivididas em seis tratamentos principais (dois níveis de energia vs três níveis de probiótico) e três tratamentos secundários (idades), com as parcelas distribuídas em três blocos ao acaso. Não foram encontrados efeitos significativos para a adição de probiótico na dieta em relação ao desempenho e às atividades enzimáticas. O nível de energia na dieta mostrou efeito significativo para o desempenho e as atividades da lipase e amilase (expressas por kg de peso vivo). Foi observado também que, em função da idade, houve diminuição da atividade da lipase, com exceção da amilase e tripsina pancreática, quando expressa em unidades por gramas de pâncreas. Os resultados obtidos neste experimento mostraram que a adição de probiótico (Bacillus subtilis) na dieta de frangos de corte não compromete o desempenho e nem a atividade das enzimas digestivas.Palavras-chave: enzimas digestivas, frangos de corte, probiótico Effect of Probiotic Supplementation on Performance and Digestive Enzymes Activity of Broiler ChickensABSTRACT -The present study was carried out aiming to investigate the performance, as well to quantify the digestive enzymes activities for the following enzymes: amylase, lipase and trypsin from broiler chickens fed with diets containing different in energy levels and mixed with different probiotic doses. RESUMO:Especialmente nas últimas décadas, inúmeros esforços têm sido dirigidos para conferir às plantas seu real papel e valor na terapia. Neste estudo foi avaliada a atividade antimicrobiana de extratos secos de Artemisia absinthium . To evaluate the antimicrobial activity the diffusion test in agar was carried through, with 15 different microorganisms, using discs impregnated with aqueous dispersions of the vegetal extracts. For those extracts that had presented inhibitory activity, the calculation of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration was carried out (CIM). The results had shown that the extracts of X. violaceum and S. cuminii had inhibited 8 and 6 bacteria, respectively. What leads to the conclusion that the extracts of X. violaceum and S. cuminii are capable to inhibit the microbial growth.

Tartrate-resistant acid (ACP) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities were evaluated in the serum and bone of broiler chicks fed with various amounts of non-phytate phosphorus (NPP) or phytase. Data were analysed using a 4)3 factorial design containing four NPP levels per period. Analyses were performed in chicks aged 1Á21 days (0.21; 0.29; 0.37; 0.45 ppm) and 36Á42 days (0.13; 0.21; 0.29; 0.37 ppm) and under three different phytase level treatments (0, 500 and 1000 FTU/kg) for each period. In 42-day-old animals, the serum ACP and ALP activities did not differ in response to NPP and phytase levels and bone ACP activity decreased with increased phosphorus levels. We observed effects on ALP activity by approximately 70% in lower phosphorus (0.13 and 0.21) levels without phytase. The phytase addition decreased (PB0.05) ALP values in lower phosphorus levels. The bone ALP and ACP levels of 21-day-old animals were not affected by phosphorus or phytase. Pi depletion induces a significant increase in alkaline phosphatase synthesis, suggesting that the function of this enzyme is downregulated by phosphorus.

The present research describes an efficient procedure to obtain high levels of trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen by using a simple, rapid, and easily reproducible method. The extraction process and the time-course of activation of zymogens can be carried out in a single laboratory period, without sophisticated equipment. The main objective was to prepare a laboratory class that would stimulate student interest in enzyme regulation, exploring the fact that the catalytic activity of some enzymes is regulated by different mechanisms. The regulation of proteolytic enzymes requires the synthesis of an inactive zymogen and its being irreversibly "switched on" by specific proteolytic cleavage.

Atualmente o Brasil ocupa a primeira posição como país exportador e terceira posição como produtor, no ranking mundial da carne de frango. No segmento de postura, também demonstra relevância, produzindo aproximadamente 53 bilhões de ovos em 2020, portanto, a cadeia avícola apresenta-se como uma importante rede de oportunidades para a atuação do médico veterinário. Sendo assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi apresentar algumas ferramentas interativas, como os plugins H5P®: Find the words, Advental calendar, Flashcard, Quiz (question set), Column - drag text, Fill in the blanks e Memory game, presentes na plataforma Moodle - AVA Institucional do Centro Universitário “Barão de Mauá”, além de um modelo anatômico de galinha (4D Vision - 4D Master®) para estudar a anatomia das aves. O modelo anatômico permite a remoção e remontagem das estruturas anatômicas a fim de relembrar a organização dos sistemas orgânicos de uma galinha (Gallus gallus). As atividades apresentadas no presente estudo começaram a ser elaboradas em 2019 e estão sendo inseridas nas disciplinas da área de Produção Animal e Ornitopatologia do curso de Medicina Veterinária do Centro Universitário “Barão de Mauá”. Desde então foi possível perceber grande entusiasmo, empenho e motivação dos alunos na realização das atividades propostas, entretanto, sugere-se estudos futuros para avaliação mais detalhada desses resultados. Como conclusão verificou-se que os plugins do H5P® e o modelo anatômico apresentados no estudo, permitiram inserir uma grande variedade de assuntos presentes nos conteúdos programáticos das disciplinas, de forma simples e prática. Além disso, forneceu feedback imediato aos discentes, intercalou atividades e diversificou metodologias de ensino promovendo facilidade, motivação, incentivo a criatividade e melhoria da concentração e consequentemente, do processo de aprendizagem.
