deste estudo, uma revisão integrativa da literatura especializada, foi demonstrar os principais aspectos da sepse, bem como, o perfil dos pacientes hospitalizados em UTIs que evoluem para tal diagnóstico. MÉTODO: Os estudos levantados foram selecionados nas bases de dados do PubMed, Google Acadêmico, Periódicos da CAPES e SciELO. Foram utilizados descritores como: "UTI", "perfil de pacientes", "sepse" e "epidemiologia". RESULTADOS: Como resultado da pesquisa foram obtidos 40 artigos. Aqueles que abordavam o tema de sepse em UTIs (desde que o quadro séptico fosse desenvolvido após a internação) e aqueles que realizavam uma categorização dos pacientes de acordo com suas características individuais (comorbidades, características epidemiológicas, condições clínicas, diagnósticos precedentes ao quadro séptico, entre outras) foram selecionados. Estudos que não abarcavam tais situações foram excluídos da presente revisão. Após a aplicação desses critérios de inclusão e exclusão foram utilizados 33 artigos para o desenvolvimento do presente estudo. Foram estabelecidas análises comparativas e integrativas, bem como, uma padronização dos resultados de cada trabalho para o desenvolvimento desta revisão. DISCUSSÃO: Com base em análises comparativas e integrativas, bem como, com uma padronização dos resultados de cada trabalho, foi possível reafirmar que a identificação de pacientes adultos com maior probabilidade de ter desfechos clínicos desfavoráveis através do diagnóstico precoce e o tratamento padronizado, é a forma eficaz e possível de reduzir consideravelmente os índices de mortalidade por sepse nas UTIs. CONCLUSÃO: Observou-se que mesmo diante da relevância do tema, poucos estudos correlacionam epidemiologia com as causas infecciosas e a mortalidade em pacientes que desenvolvem quadro de sepse nas Unidades de Terapia Intensiva e essa falta de dados dificulta não só a caracterização desses pacientes, como também, a elaboração de critérios e protocolos para a melhoria dos serviços na busca por diminuir os índices de mortalidade por sepse.

A Síndrome de Stickler(SS) é uma entidade genética rara descrita em 1965 pelo Dr Stickler Gunnar B. Stickler, relacionada a mutações nos genes de colágeno. Manifesta-se como uma artro-oftalmopatia hereditária autossômica dominante. Apresentação do caso: Paciente EMF, de 1 mes de vida, sexo masculino, natural e procedente de Goiânia, Goiás, com teste do "olhinho" alterado. Seguindo na avaliação do paciente, foi identificado alterações como micrognatia e arto-oftalmopatia inflamatória sendo diagnosticado com síndrome de Stickler. Discussão: A SS é uma vítreo-retinopatia e condrodisplasia que pode causar alterações sistêmicas e oftalmológicas importantes. Entretanto, a dificuldade no diagnóstico diferencial com outras síndromes genéticas subestima o número de pacientes com essa patologia. Sendo assim, a análise genotípica se faz necessária para confirmação diagnóstica, além da presença de alterações oftalmológicas e sistêmicas características. Conclusão: Dada a dificuldade de seu reconhecimento, este artigo tem por objetivo facilitar o diagnóstico precoce da síndrome, para que o paciente obtenha o tratamento mais adequado e eficaz.
