The relation between stomata index and drought resistant at rice somaclones of Gajahmungkur, Towuti, and IR 64

Abstract: Plant response to drought stress depends on the physiological and biochemical response of the individual plant. Plant resistant toward the drought stress is controlled by so many genes that identification toward the drought stress resistant plant could use one or several characters related to drought. In order to find out the relationship between stomata density and the drought stress resistant plant, observation on the stomata density at the lower leave epidermis of various rice (Oryza sativa L.) somaclones o… Show more

“…So that there will be many stomata which aims to remove excess water from the body of the plant. Stomata density can affect two important processes in plants, namely photosynthesis and transpiration [19]. It can be concluded that the longer the flooding treatment can also increase the density of stomata in sugarcane [7].…”

“…Water loss in plants was caused by transpiration through stomata. The stomatal opening and closure depend on the pressure of the plant cell turgor (Lestari 2005). Plant water absorption and movement were influenced by soil moisture, root contact with soil, and water soil resistance to water flow.…”
