Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization and Antimicrobial Studies of Some Metal Complexes of 5-Isopropylidene-1-Methyl-2, 4-Dithiobiuret Hydrochloride

Abstract: The ligand 5-isopropylidene-l-methyl-2,4-dithiobiuret hydrochloride (HIMDTB.HCI) has been prepared by reacting 1 -methyl-2,4-dithiobiuret with ethyl chloroformate in the presence of acetone. New transition metal complexes of the type Ni(IMDTB)2, CO(IMDTB)~.~H~O, [Cu(HIMDTB)C1]2 and M(HUIDTB)S04 = Zn(1I) and Cd(n)] have been synthesized and characterized. Molar conductance values revealed that the bivalent metal ions are non-ionic in Dh4F. The electronic spectra, FT-IR spectra and magnetic moments of the comple… Show more

“…The broad band observed in the range 3420-3390 cm 21 is due to the -OH vibration of water molecule (Limin, 1997) (Table 3). The IR spectrum of H 2 MHDDO shows a broad band centered at 3322 cm 21 , due to the -OH stretching vibration of the oxime group (Geary, 1971;Naik et al, 1999). This -OH band is observed in the range 3240 -3360 cm 21 in the H 2 MHDDO complexes, which indicates that, one oxime group is not involved in the bonding.…”
