The article offers a relatively new theoretical framework articulating macro, meso and micro levels of analysis of the migration process, which often are disconnected in the sociology of migration. This alternative approach rests on the classical sociological concept of career. The concept of migratory career integrates structures of opportunities, individual characteristics and networks to make sense of the migratory experience. This concept helps us to fill the gap between scholars of migration and people’s movement on the one hand, and scholars of integration and incorporation in the new country, on the other hand. Migratory career must be considered as an additional concept to the traditional concepts such as integration, assimilation or incorporation, which are mainly focused on the situation of migrants in the receiving country. Furthermore, the use of the concept of migratory career allows to connect the theoretical thinking on migration to mainstream sociological theories.

Mankind who has been looking forward finding back his Lost Paradise, has defined his life into an endless quest.A quest which has given ground to a topic of reflection among many African writers such as Fatou Diome, who in The Belly of the Atlantic, brings on surface the different aspects of African emigration in European countries. Thus, in this article, we drive, on the one hand, at exposing the misleading and impaired hope that attracts and motivates African young people to run away from their "miserable lives" to cross the Mediterranean and Atlantic oceans and, on the other hand, at highlighting the local solutions that do exist to stop such a social and topical phenomenon.

This contribution presents ongoing research that sets out to assess for the first time the situation of the foreign workers, from Europe and beyond, who work in France, in various economic sectors, as a result of the operation of networks of subcontractors. It appears that neither the legal framework nor the obligations of the foreign firms employing these workers are clear, in terms either of relations with government departments or of the legal arguments that may legitimately be invoked for the settlement of disputes. Trade unions, citizens' associations, locally elected officials and civil servants alike are strikingly ill-prepared to deal with this new phenomenon of the movement of workers in Europe.
