In the first section of this article, the authors, Christel Gilles and Antoine Parent, argue that in France, public policy and the pension system provide financial incentives favoring early retirement. The implementation of "bridge jobs" to facilitate the transition from full employment to full retirement, could, in theory, lessen the long-term decline in employment rates of men and women. Gilles and Parent, in the second section, question the idea that rising labor force participation rates among women are adequate to narrow pension inequalities between men and women. Regarding this point, we also note that since women's careers are generally shorter than men's and their labor income remains, on average, lower, an increase in female labor force participation would lead, in an occupational-based system, to a substitution effect between direct and indirect entitlements. The impact of this effect on pension gender inequalities remains uncertain. In the third section, the authors examine, from a gender perspective, other pension reform options that may, in theory, provide greater gender equality, but that are, in practice, far from the implementation phase.Christel Gilles is an economist, Matisse, University of Paris 1--Sorbonne. Les disparités de retraite entre hommes et femmes (niveau de pension, âge de liquidation) sont aujourd’hui importantes, même si elles semblent se réduire (lentement) pour les générations de retraités les plus jeunes. Cet article s’intéresse à la poursuite de ces évolutions à l’horizon 2040. Sous l’effet d’une hausse de leur participation au marché du travail, les durées validées par les femmes croissent au fil des générations, permettant une poursuite de la réduction de l’écart de pension entre les deux sexes. Ce dernier demeure néanmoins important. Si les hommes des générations 1940-1944, anciens salariés du secteur privé, perçoivent une pension de droit direct double de celle des femmes, le ratio s’établit à 1,59 pour les générations nées entre 1965 et 1974. Il semblerait que les réformes mises en œuvre en 1993 et en 2003 aient freiné la réduction des écarts de pension. En effet, sans ces réformes, la pension des hommes des générations 1965-1974 aurait été supérieure de 47% à celle des femmes.
