La2O3/Co3O4 nanocomposite modified screen printed electrode for voltammetric determination of sertraline

Abstract: La 2 O 3 /Co 3 O 4 nanocomposite was synthesized and then used for the modification of screen-printed electrode (SPE) prior to the electrochemical determination of sertraline. A significant increment in peak current response was observed and peak potential also shifted towards less positive potentials showing the facilitated oxidation procedure at surface of modified SPE (La 2 O 3 / /Co 3 O 4 /SPE). The quantitative determination of sertraline was carried out by using different pulse voltammetry and the anodic… Show more

“…The DPV results showed a linear relationship between the concentration of sertraline and the anodic peak current in the range from 0.1 to 85 µM. A La 2 O 3 /Co 3 O 4 nanocomposite modified screen-printed electrode enabled the determination of sertraline in a pH 7 phosphate buffer also using DPV [14]. In this case, the anodic peak current was increased linearly with the drug concentration in the range from 5.0 to 400.0 µM.…”

“…With the extraordinary catalytic properties of metal oxide nanoparticles and low toxicity of lanthanum ions, Mohammadi and group [ 31 ] reported a simple, yet economical, electrochemical sensor for the detection of sertraline. The La 2 O 3 /Co 3 O 4 nanocomposite was prepared by the impregnation of La 2 O 3 nanoparticles onto the surface of Co 3 O 4 hexagonal nanosheets and was deposited on an SPE.…”

“…To overcome these challenges, functional material and/or nanomaterials known for their unique physicochemical and electrical properties have been incorporated into the surfaces of the bare working electrodes providing the modified electrode with new and fascinating properties. These impact strongly on the application of electrochemical sensors and biosensors through better selective and sensitive detection, limited interference of other biomolecules, improved reproducibility and increased usage, and the reduced effects of fouling [ 31 ]. Studies in material and nanomaterial sciences have progressed significantly, where materials with controlled dimensions and morphologies as well as surface charges and other physicochemical properties have been fabricated which can then be customised to specific analytes for electrochemical sensing.…”

“…17 In a recent article, Mohammadi et al have utilized screen-printed carbon electrodes modified with magnetic core-shell MnFe 2 O 4 nanoparticles for the analysis of PPH using different electrochemical techniques viz., CV, DPV, and chronoamperometry. 18 Kun et al have published similar work with glassy carbon electrode functionalized with mixture of platinum nanoparticles and MWCNTs. The sensor could detect PPH concentrations as low as 0.08 μM.…”
