Individuell mit CAD-CAM-Technik hergestellte, bioresorbierbare dreidimensionale Polycaprolaktongerüste zur experimentellen Rekonstruktion von kraniofazialen Defekten beim Schwein

Abstract: The PCL scaffold coated with bone marrow seems to be a material that effectively provides osteoinduction with formation of new bone. Long-term results at 12 months are still pending.

“…Its use could be translated from bench to clinical use easily due to the approval status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). For bone TE, scaffolds made from PCL have been shown previously to support ectopic bone formation in a rat model [16], repair orbital defects in a pig model [17], and burr hole defects in patients with chronic subdural hematoma [18]. …”

“…Therapy concepts based on application of adult stem cells were thought to be promising for complete regeneration of breast tissue in the early days in the field; however, those concepts also have considerable disadvantages impeding their clinical translation–ranging from complexities and cost with scaling up of tissue culture to requiring complex GMP-certified laboratories for the processing12131415161718. Furthermore, it is challenging to efficiently vascularise large clinically relevant breast scaffolds (>75 cc) using cell culture-based concepts.…”

“…In this case, SLM technology reduces the density of pure stainless steel from 7.83 per cm 3 to 0.6 g/cm 3 . Nearly 90% reduction in weight but still retaining enormous strength and stiffness with material properties the same as with rolled steel.…”

“…Ultra light mesh structures are some of the most complex and dimensionally demanding geometries ever generated in metals, with over 450 holes and channels per cm 3 . In this case, SLM technology reduces the density of pure stainless steel from 7.83 per cm 3 to 0.6 g/cm 3 .…”
