Improving Students’ Science Process Skills and Critical Thinking Skills in Physics Learning through FERA Learning Model with SAVIR Approach

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of FERA learning model (Focus, Explore, Reflect and Apply) with SAVIR approach in improving students’ science process skills and critical thinking skills in physics learning. The method used in this research was Quasi-Experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The subject of this research was students in one of the senior high schools in Lampung District. MANOVA test (Multivariate of Variance) in SPSS 20 was used as a hypothesis test. The analysis resul… Show more

“…Manova (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) test to analyze the entire sample of simultaneous, experimental, and control classes based on the student's science reconstruction skills categories. Manova test analysis to determine the effectiveness of SSI strategies in developing the naturalness of student science reconstruction simultaneously (Diani et al, 2020). Manova test as an analytical tool to assess the level of meaningfulness (significance) of the influence of 1 qualitative free variable on the > 1 dependent variable that is quantitatively scaled (interval or ratio scale).…”

“…The given issues can increase the curiosity to find results as accurately as possible (Facione, 1990). Even the provision of problems can stimulate students to develop critical thinking skills (Diani et al, 2020;Herawati et al, 2020;Sumarni & Kadarwati, 2020). Students perform simulations individually before the meeting, which is intended to be practical learning activities.…”

“…The MANOVA (Multivariate Analysis of Variance) test is used to analyze all class samples simultaneously (experimental class and control class) based on the contribution of the ILESSI-DCF Model syntax. Next, testing the effectiveness of the independent variables, namely the ILESSI-DCF Model Syntax, which consists of five syntaxes, namely: Confrontation, Observation, Recognition, Explanation, and Application, on the dependent variable (creative thinking skills) simultaneously (Diani et al, 2020). Meanwhile, creative thinking skills have five indicators (Guilford, 1968), namely: Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, Elaboration and Redefinition.…”
