Impact of Tithonia diversifolia and Pennisetum purpureum-based Ration on Nutrient Intake, Nutrient Digestibility and Milk Yield of Etawa Crossbreed Dairy Goat

Abstract: The research aimed to discover the effect of Tithonia diversifolia (TD) and Pennisetum purpureum (PP)-based ration on nutrient intake, nutrient digestibility and milk yield of Etawa crossbreed dairy goat. Sixteen Etawa crossbreed dairy goats in the second month of lactation with live weight 60-70kg were the object in this study. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with 4 treatments and 4 replications for each treatment. The treatments were as follows: A=20% fermented palm frond (FPF) + 16% Tithonia div… Show more

“…VFA manufacturing offers enough strength for rumen bacteria to develop and grow (Jamarun et al 2019) and the supply of uncooked substances for milk synthesis (Jamarun et al 2020). This results are similar with the study from Pazla et al (2022). They also found no difference in milk quality in ECDG given a mixture of tithonia forage with elephant grass with the addition of a concentrate consisting of corn, rice bran, tofu dregs, and palm kernel cake.…”

“…Oluwasola and Dairo (2016) reported that tithonia plants are also rich in amino acids. The mixture of tithonia with elephant grass as a fiber source in ECDG ration can optimize intake, digestibility, and milk production (Pazla et al 2022).…”

“…Besides that, crude protein intake and in vivo digestibility of Phan Rang sheep fed with urea-treated rice straw showed higher content (71.58g/d and 601.69g/kg, respectively) compared to Phan Rang sheep fed with untreated rice straw (59.40g/d and 570.69g/kg, respectively). Feed processing such as fermentation and ammoniation could increase the digestibility of nutrient (Pazla et al 2022). Ammoniated treatment not only enhances nutrient digestibility in the rumen but also adds amount of nitrogen (Jayanegara et al 2017).…”

“…High lignin content in avocado leaves became a barrier for the microbial rumen to degrade nutrients, eventually decreasing nutrient digestibility. Besides that, high nutrient content in fermented T. diversifolia contributed to the high digestibility in line with Pazla et al (2022). According to Pazla et al (2021d), lignin negatively correlates with ADF digestibility.…”
