Abstract:This essay aims to expand the concept of the feminization of aging by addressing the conditions associated with older women's working relationships. The feminization of aging is generally associated with the fact that there are more women than men in the elderly population, especially in Brazil. The theoretical basis of this study can help to expand our understanding of this phenomenon, which has three axes: the nature of the feminization of aging; the characteristics of those who experience it; and, finally, … Show more
“…It is important to remember that age discrimination may intersect with other forms of discrimination based on race, gender, class or sexual orientation (Nash, 2008;Cepellos, 2021;Stelzer & Kyrillos, 2021).…”
The aging of population and workforce has significantly impacted living conditions in society and organizations around the world. This scenario represents a challenge for public policymakers and for the labor market, whose future depends on the maintenance of the work capacity of the older workers and their continued participation in the labour market. In this context, age management policies are increasingly important as they play a crucial role in increasing and sustaining the participation of these workers in the labor market. This theoretical essay aims to discuss age management in the Brazilian context. Specifically, it seeks to present the concept of age management and its challenges for the organizations in Brazil. Age management has been defined as the best way to strategically deal with the changes resulting from the aging of the population and consequent changes in the labor market. We argue, in this study, that the phenomenon of aging has specific characteristics in Brazil, a country with a collectivist trait in which intergenerational affective-moral-financial responsibility is the main issue.

“…Biological aging is relentless, active and irreversible, causing the body to be more vulnerable to external and internal aggressions (Cepellos, 2021).…”
Biological aging is relentless, active and irreversible, causing greater vulnerabilities to the body to external and internal aggressions. The objective of this work is to discuss general aspects that occur with aging, as well as the main causes of biological and psychological aging based on the scientific literature. This is a bibliographic review of the narrative literature review method, carried out from March 2022 to May 2022. The guiding question was: “What is the most relevant information about biological and psychological aging in the elderly?” The searches were carried out through the SciELO database (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Google Scholar and the Virtual Health Library (BVS). The descriptors/keywords used were: “Biological aging” and “Psychic aging” combined with the Boolean operator “AND” in the period from 2018 to 2021. Inclusion criteria were original and review studies made available in full in Portuguese. In total, 6 articles made up this study. The various factors of human aging are observed, and they point to losses, changes in sexual functionality, physical changes, in addition, the signs of functional aging appear discreetly throughout life, being called senescence. Biological and psychic aging occurs in different ways in each individual. The approach to aging must be multifaceted, as the quality of life of the elderly population can be positively and negatively affected by a wide range of factors
