Fatores relacionados ao desenvolvimento de úlceras em pacientes com Diabetes Mellitus Factors related to the development of ulcers in patients with Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract:Fatores relacionados ao desenvolvimento de úlceras em pacientes com Diabetes Mellitus
ABSTRACTObjective: To identify factors related to the development of ulcers in the lower limbs of insulin-dependent users residing in the city of São José de Mipibu/RN. Method: Quantitative research; we obtained data thought interview followed by static inspection and application of Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments to assess the threshold of plantar tactile sensitivity. The Ethics Committee of the Potiguar University of Natal/R… Show more
“…However, this data differs from that found in the present investigation, since most of the patients evaluated had a time of diagnosis of the disease of less than ten years. Another data identified in this study was that a significant portion of the patients had the foot lesion installed for a period equal to or greater than 30 days, making them more susceptible to serious infections and increasing the healing time (22) .…”
Objective: Evaluate the impairment of tissue integrity in patients with diabetic foot and verify its association with time of diagnosis of the disease. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with 134 patients in an outpatient clinic located in the Northeast region of Brazil. A semi-structured questionnaire was used for data collection, which was subjected to descriptive analysis and the Mann-Whitney U non-parametric test. Results: Indicators with the lowest average score were: skin temperature, sweating, skin lesions, right and left pedal pulses, right and left tibial pulses. Patients less than ten years old had worse scores on thickness, elasticity, right tibial pulse and tissue integrity. Those with a diagnosis time of more than ten years had a greater impairment of sensation and right pulse. Conclusion: All indicators showed some impairment of tissue integrity, and the time of diagnosis of the disease was associated with six of these.

“…In this study, it was found that a significant association exists between foot self-care knowledge and level of education. A review by different authors who addressed the subject (12,(19)(20) also identified statistically significant associations between level of education and foot self-care knowledge.…”
“…The National Health Survey (Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde-PNS) found a pattern of risk factor for chronic diseases, mainly Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) associated with diabetes 18 . Another study that evaluated the responses of adults in the PNS 2013 points out SAH (65%) as a factor related to the development of ulcers in the lower limbs in people with DM 19 .…”
Objective: to evaluate the rate of healing in diabetic foot ulcers treated with a biomembrane of latex proteins from Calotropis procera (BioMem CpLP) when compared to powdered hydrocolloid. Method: randomized controlled clinical trial, registered by the Brazilian Clinical Trial Registry (REBEC), according to protocol RBR-98f3j9, carried out with eight people with diabetic foot, in a diabetic foot clinic, from March to July 2019. In the experimental group (n = 04), biomembrane was applied; in the control group (n = 04), hydrocolloid powder was used. The healing rate was assessed at 30 and 60 days after starting treatment. Results: no statistical differences were found between the healing rates of the control group and the experimental group in the temporal analysis of the initial 30 days (p = 0.726) and in the 60 days following the start of treatment (p = 0.562). Conclusion: BioMem CpLP presented healing rates similar to the conventional product, being an effective and low cost alternative for the treatment of diabetic feet.
