FUTURE CLIMATE SCENARIOS FOR PARANA: OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE FOREST SECTOR ABSTRACT:This study proposes to simulate future climate scenarios for the Parana, as well as evaluate the projects of forest base in the context of potential climate change. It was obtained the historical series of daily variable maximum air temperature, average air temperature, minimum air temperature, precipitation and altitude of 45 meteorological stations of years 1970 to 2010 for the Parana and of border states. The data represent the basis for the simulation of future scenarios, performed in software PGECLIMA_R. It was applied geostatistics in the projection of 4 possible climate scenarios for 2100 in the State, respecting the adjust of theoretical models and interpolators. The projection of climate scenarios shows an alert to the public authorities. It is estimated that projects of forest areas are viable within the pillars of sustainability -economic, social and environmentally correct -and represent enormous potential as a tool for mitigation. Native species of Semideciduous Forest and Dense Ombrophilous Forest should be considered in reforestation projects in the areas north and northwest, and on the coast, respectively, the areas that are most at risk in the State.
