The forest management in Indonesia is currently using a new paradigm, one of which is the involvement of local communities. This paradigm applied throughout Indonesia, especially in state forest areas and customary forests. National parks are part of state forests where management involves the community. One of the management methods used is community-based ecotourism which has widely implemented to communities around the national park. This approach used to improve people livelihoods and to minimize forest encroachment, illegal logging, and illegal hunting. In this relation, this article aims to provide a description of the Indonesian research literature on ecotourism development program regarding forest management in the community around national park areas. It found that ecotourism plays a role in the forest management by improving forest management and maintaining biodiversity, including protection of endangered species and their habitats. Meanwhile, ecotourism also empowering local communities, providing direct and indirect economic benefits. Nevertheless, comprehensive management planning is needed to minimize the ecotourism impacts, such as wildlife behavior and morphological change. The previous studies give understanding about ecotourism development in national parks that can be useful to improve national park management programs. However, further studies are still needed to support sustainable national park management.

The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) the human values of students; 2) student care; 3) priority analysis for aspects of increasing student awareness. Quantitative research, by type of survey research. The population is grade 5 elementary school students in Srumbung subdistrict, Magelang district with a total of 505 in 29 elementary schools. The sample used was purposive sampling, with a sample of 5 schools, the subject was class V students with a total of 110 students. The instrument uses a questionnaire as its main instrument. Analysis of the data is descriptive percentages at an early stage, followed by regression analysis to obtain proportions as a priority for increasing disaster awareness. The results showed; 1) student awareness in human values is 78.64% with a good category. 2) disaster social awareness of 77.89% with a good category. 3) The results of the regression analysis to see the relative contribution obtained by the main indicators; a) help others (55%). b) escape (18%). c) surrender to God (18%). d) evacuation efforts (9%). The results of the regression analysis of each aspect obtained by mapping for priorities that need to be improved in succession are: surrender to God, efforts to evacuate, maintain relationships, provide food, protect the environment, help evacuate.

Abstract. Njurumana GN, Ginoga KL, Octavia D. 2020. Sustaining farmers livelihoods through community forestry in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 3786-3796. One of the goals of managing global forest ecosystems today is to synergize their socio-economic, ecological and community livelihood benefits. Each forest type has various socio-economic and ecological characteristics that influence its management strategies and the provision services to the community. In general, the socio-economic benefits of forests in supporting community livelihoods are well known, however, the information which is specifically relevant to tropical monsoon forests is still very limited. This research aims to fill this knowledge gap, by providing information about the socio-economic conditions and provision of services of tropical monsoon forests to people's livelihoods. The research was conducted through structured interviews, FGDs, and field observations, by an analysis unit in community forests in the Sikka district. The information obtained was analyzed through descriptively qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed an imbalance between the socio-economic conditions of people who rely on the tropical monsoon forest for their livelihoods and the carrying capacity of fuelwood, food, and fodder supply. This imbalance is due to the weak synergy and organization of stakeholders in optimizing how the provision services of forests are used to support farmers' livelihoods. Farmers' dependence on the tropical forest services is still high, therefore the strengthening of farmers' institutions becomes a key factor that determines sustainable management of the forest and enhances the value of its benefits to the community.
