Show more

“…For these same authors, increases in ADF content can be associated with the remaining leaves in pasture managed at greater heights, what reduces ecosystem quality over time. The higher the ADF content in forages, the higher the lignin content and hence the lower the substrate availability for ruminal digestion (MAGALHÃES et al, 2015).…”

“…Moreover, ADF content is an indicator of forage energy and digestibility since the lower the ADF the higher the dietary energy and the lower the lignin content (MAGALHÃES et al, 2015). Forages with higher ADF contents also had a lower CP value and lower digestibility.…”

“…Values above 55% of cell wall content in the plant may limit DM consumption by the animal (Van Soest, 1982). Therefore, nitrogen confers an increase in the crude protein levels and leads to a decrease in the NDF and ADF contents of the leaves, as verified by Magalhães et al (2015), improving the quality of the forage consumable by the animals.…”

“…The higher lignin content in the banana peel reduces the NDF quality of the diets, impairing its digestibility. According to Magalhães et al (2015), the lignin content has a negative correlation with fiber digestibility. For each percentage unit of banana peel in the diet, there was a reduction of 0.2550% in crude protein digestibility (Table 4).…”
