Objective: to evaluate the validity of the Competence Scale of Actions of Nurses in Emergencies based on internal structure, internal consistency, and external criteria. Methods: methodological study to verify new evidence of validity of the Scale, with contents previously validated. The Scale has 81 measurable actions at five levels of competence and can be applied both for self- and/or hetero-evaluation. Results: one hundred and forty seven nursing assistants and 41 managers from the five regions of Brazil participated in the study. They were linked to mobile prehospital emergency service, fixed prehospital emergency service, or hospital emergencies. Dimensionality was evidenced by exploratory factorial analysis of the 81 items, pointing out seven factors that explained 66.5% of the total data variance. Cronbach’s alpha ranged from 0.79 to 0.98. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin 0.988 indicated that the correlations between the items were significant. In the external criterion, Pearson’s correlations between hetero-evaluation competence scores and the manager’s subjective classification were significant (p < 0.001), as well as differences in the means of these competencies by criterion group. In addition, scores by characteristics were evaluated to detect statistically different means. Conclusion: through the adopted Statistical Procedures, with multi-methods and multi-informants, different psychometric properties were analyzed. A summary of evidence was generated showing that the Scale is valid and reliable.

RESUMO Objetivo Identificar a percepção, habilidades e competências dos estudantes de enfermagem frente à comunicação da situação crítica em cuidados paliativos por meio da simulação realística. Método Estudo descritivo quali-quantitativo, desenvolvido com 41 estudantes do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem de uma universidade do sul do Brasil. Pesquisa realizada no laboratório de práticas simuladas, entre março e maio de 2019. Resultados A média de idade dos estudantes era 23,4 anos. Quanto à percepção deles sobre comunicação da situação crítica: 39% pontuam como difícil; 75,6% nunca participaram de uma comunicação em situações críticas e; 36,60% se sentem bastante estressados nesse contexto. Da análise dos dados qualitativos, emergiram duas categorias: Sentimentos e dificuldades do estudante frente à comunicação de situações críticas em cuidados paliativos e; Principais competências adquiridas por meio da ferramenta de ensino-simulação. Conclusão e implicações para a prática da enfermagem A simulação clínica é importante ferramenta no processo ensino-aprendizagem, faz emergir a observação e torna os estudantes confiantes na habilidade de manter diálogos interprofissionais e com a família. Implica, desta maneira, na prática profissional no tocante às tomadas de decisão, na comunicação de más notícias.

Aim: to report the experience of use a virtual simulation with a mobile app in technical nursing education. METHODS: it is a descriptive study with experience report. The simulation activity was applied with students of the Nursing technical course in a complementary pressure injuries course. The activity was in two stages. In the first one: a class on the pressure injuries prevention. The second stage: a virtual simulation activity practical using the APP was carried out. RESULTS: the activity was under two tutors coordination. In the first stage, an expository and dialogued class on "Prevention of pressure injuries" was given and in the second there was the application of the practical activity with virtual simulation. The "UpCare" APP focuses on risk assessment for developing pressure injuries and have preventive care recommendations. The students were organized in small groups of three to five members, each small group received a patient case study. After evaluating each simulated patient, the system provides a recommendations list for preventing pressure injuries based on the patient's profile. Each small group discussed the case, in order to carry out the evaluation and develop critical thinking and decision making in relation to the pertinent or not relevant care for the context. Finally, the tutors asked the students about their interest in carrying out the activity. They reported being satisfied with the use of simulation practice, which makes more dynamic and fun teaching. CONCLUSION: the insertion of virtual simulation proved to be a current and innovative way of a Digital Educational Technologies use, contributing positively to the teaching of a pressure injuries prevention, as well as stimulating a critical thinking and decision making safely in a simulated environment.
