This study sought to describe the changes in the food security status in Brazil before and during its most recent financial and political crisis, as well as to explore associations between food security and socioeconomic factors during the crisis. This cross-sectional study analyzed data from two different sources: the Brazilian National Household Sample Survey for 2004 (n = 112,479), 2009 (n = 120,910), and 2013 (n = 116,192); and the Gallup World Poll for 2015 (n = 1,004), 2016 (n = 1,002), and 2017 (n = 1,001). Household food security status was measured by a shorter version of the Brazilian Food Insecurity Scale, consisting of the first 8 questions of the original 14-item scale. Descriptive and logistic regression analyses were performed to assess the changes in food security and their association with socioeconomic factors. Results suggest that during the crisis the percentage of households classified as food secure declined by one third (76% in 2013 to 49% in 2017) while severe food insecurity tripled (4% in 2013 to 12% in 2017). Whereas before the crisis (2013) 44% of the poorest households were food secure, by 2017 this decreased to 26%. Household income per capita was strongly associated with food security, increasing by six times the chances of being food insecure among the poorest strata. Those who reported a low job climate, social support or level of education were twice as likely to be food insecure. Despite significant improvements between 2004 and 2013, findings indicate that during the crisis Brazil suffered from a great deterioration of food security, highlighting the need for emergency policies to protect and guarantee access to food for the most vulnerable.

RESUMOObjetivo: Este estudo objetiva analisar as características das pesquisas sobre evidenciação contábil socializadas no Congresso ANPCONT no período de 2007 a 2016. Fundamento: A evidenciação contábil é uma das formas visadas de comunicação com os agentes de mercado. Nesse cenário, a pesquisa contábil enquanto prática de ordem social e institucional instiga desenvolver estudos que contribuam para uma maior confiabilidade nas informações divulgadas pelas empresas. Método: O processo de seleção dos trabalhos ocorreu em etapas sistemáticas e resultou em uma amostra de 90 trabalhos. Neles investigaram-se aspectos temporais, autoria, temática, enfoque teó-rico e metodológico, foco em informações obrigatórias ou voluntárias e uso da escala dicotômica para determinar o nível de evidenciação. Resultados: Os resultados evidenciam uma evolução temporal dos estudos sobre evidenciação contábil, e duas universidades se destacaram pelos pesquisadores com maior número de trabalhos apresentados neste evento. As teorias de base que prevaleceram são Teoria da Divulgação e Teoria da Agência. As temáticas mais destacadas são a evidenciação ambiental e social e a evidenciação das informações presentes nas demonstrações contábeis, com ênfase em atos regulatórios e normativos. Os procedimentos metodológicos mais utilizados circunscreveram-se à análise de conteúdo com uso de ferramentas estatísticas.

Since the establishment of the 1988 Constitution, there has been a movement of fiscal (and in terms of responsibilities) decentralisation towards local governments in Brazil. Nowadays, since the municipalities have nearly a relevant role in the federation as the s t a t e sh a v e ,i th a sb e c o m em o r ei m p o r t a n tt oc a r r yo u tad e t a i l e ds t u d yo ft h e i rt a x burden. From the last year before the Constitution until 2016, the municipalities' tax burden nearly doubled in terms of local taxes collected, and more than doubled in terms of available revenue. The growth even remained after 2011, when the national tax burden took a downwards turn. An assessment using the tax base reveals a regressive municipal taxation, similar to the pattern of the Brazilian tax system as a whole. An analysis by population and by region shows that the direct municipal taxation is more intense in the richer and more populous regions, while available revenue is shown to be more relevant in poorer and less populous regions. Despite the municipalities' remarkable evolution in the Federation, a comparison with other countries shows that there is still room for local governments to expand fiscally.
