Production of polymeric nanofibers with different conditions of the electrospinning process

Abstract: Nanofibers are materials that present high elasticity, strength, porosity and surface-area-to-volume ratio. The electrospinning method is the most widely adopted technique for forming polymeric nanofibers due to repeatability, easy scale-up process and production of long and continuous nanofibers. This method produces nanofibers with diameters ranging from 10 nm to 1000 nm. The process is regulated by many parameters which significantly affecting the morphology of the nanofibers, and through the proper handlin… Show more

“…Hydrophobic silica aerogel was used to make the membrane waterrepellent since thermal protective clothing may be exposed to hot water and toxic liquids. All fabric combinations are given in Table 1. 2.2 PAN/silica aerogel membrane production First, 6 wt % PAN and 5 wt % silica aerogel were separately dissolved in DMF with stirring at room temperature for 24 h (Vaz et al, 2017). Then, PAN/silica aerogel solutions with different silica aerogel content were obtained by mixing the prepared PAN and silica aerogel solutions at different volume ratios given in Table 2.…”

“…La influencia de los parámetros de proceso individuales (campo eléctrico, flujo y distancia), así como sus interacciones, en el diámetro medio de las fibras obtenidas, fueron estudiadas por medio de un análisis de varianza (ANOVA). Para las variables que mostraron diferencias significativas se realizó comparaciones por pares de sus medias usando la prueba Tukey [7,8]. Las diferencias se consideraron estadísticamente significativas para valores P <0.05.…”

“…Electrospinning is the most commonly used and efficient method for the preparation of nanofibers, and it has been applied at industrial and laboratory scales. It generally consists of a syringe pumping a polymer solution, a high voltage electric reservoir, and a conductive rotating collector [20,[26][27][28]. Electrospinning has been used in the preparation of electrospun PLGA fibers for the local release of metronidazole in the treatment of periodontitis [29].…”
