Introduction: Leprosy is a disease that carried the characteristic of incurable and disfiguring for years, causing the social segregation of patients before the family and society.Objective: To describe the repercussion of segregation in the lives of children separated by leprosy who lived in Oswaldo Cruz School.Method: This is a qualitative study with the methodological referential Oral History of Life. The sample consisted of 52 family members of former patients segregated in the São Francisco of Assis Cologne Hospital, registered in the Reintegration Movement of People Affected by Leprosy in RN (MORHAN Potiguar). The network was structured from the zero point and consists of ten collaborators. Data were collected through individual interviews, which were recorded, transcribed and submitted to thematic content analysis.Results: Emerged four themes: broken ties (broach the consequences in family relationships established by the experience of having a relative affected by leprosy); stigmatized (emphasize the obstacles in social relationships experienced by family member of leprosy former patients, who although healthy, were victims of social exclusion, stigma and prejudice); primary school (reveals the bad treatment experienced in Oswaldo Cruz School, as well as the resilience process of education received); from leprosy to Hansen's disease (were presented reflections made by collaborators related to leprosy control policy in the past and present).

A hanseníase ainda constitui um importante problema de saúde pública e as ações de promoção da reabilitação psíquica dos pacientes ainda são insuficientes. Este estudo se propôs a avaliar o impacto de oficinas terapêuticas sobre a qualidade de vida e sintomas depressivos em pacientes institucionalizados em decorrência da hanseníase. Aplicou-se o Inventário de Depressão de Beck e o instrumento genérico de avaliação da qualidade de vida WHOQOL-bref, antes e após o desenvolvimento de oficinas terapêuticas ao longo de seis meses. Participaram do estudo 62 pacientes, quase todos idosos, com baixa escolaridade. Observou-se uma redução significativa dos escores de sintomas depressivos após a intervenção proposta (p < 0,001) e impacto positivo para os domínios psicológico (p = 0,001), físico (p = 0,03) e de meio-ambiente (p < 0,001), mas não para as relações sociais (p = 0,124). Oficinas terapêuticas parecem ter o potencial de auxiliar na reabilitação psíquica de pacientes institucionalizados em decorrência da hanseníase.

ResumoHá, na atualidade, uma tendência para que os cuidados aos pacientes com câncer sejam realizados no âmbito familiar. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo buscou compreender como os cuidadores de homens em tratamento oncológico significam a experiência do cuidado. Foram realizadas entrevistas narrativas com 10 cuidadores de homens com câncer em um hospital público, especializado em oncologia, na cidade de Belo Horizonte-MG. Na análise, realizada à luz do referencial fenomenológico heideggeriano, pode-se conhecer o sentido que os cuidadores atribuem ao câncer, o significado atribuído à experiência de ser cuidador e os sentidos do cuidar. Considera-se que conhecer os sentidos que os cuidadores atribuem ao seu fazer possibilita pensar em intervenções direcionadas às necessidades desses sujeitos, visando melhorar sua qualidade de vida. In that sense, this study aimed to understand how caregivers of men in Oncology treatment mean the experience of care. Narrative interviews were conducted with 10 caregivers of men's with cancer in a public hospital specializing in Oncology in the city of Belo Horizonte-MG-Brasil. The analysis conducted through the Heideggerian phenomenological pointed to the meaning that caregivers attribute to cancer, the meaning attributed to the experience of being a caregiver and the meaning of care. To understand the meanings that the caregivers attribute to their activities allow interventions directed to the needs of these subjects, favoring their quality of life. Este estudio buscó comprender cómo los cuidadores de los hombres sometidos a tratamiento contra el cáncer significan la experiencia del Cuidado. Se realizaron entrevistas narrativas con los 10 cuidadores en un hospital público especializado en oncología, en la ciudad de Belo Horizonte -MG-Brasil. Por el análisis realizado, en la perspectiva de la fenomenología heideggeriana, se puedo conocer el significado que los cuidadores atribuyen al cáncer, el significado atribuido a la experiencia de ser un cuidador y los sentidos de cuidado. Se considera que conocer los sentidos que los cuidadores atribuyen a su actividad permite que intervenciones dirigidas a las necesidades de estas personas sean posibles, para mejorar su calidad de vida.
