Most active plants are toxic at high doses and it is therefore important to investigate the preliminary toxicity of plant extracts. The Rourea induta species is a potential drug with no phytochemical or biological studies registered in the literature. Thus, a phytochemical study and a toxicity analysis of the ethanolic extract obtained from the leaves of Rourea induta Planch., Connaraceae, was run. A long chain hydrocarbon, n-tetracosane, and four flavonoids were identified: quercetin, and three glycosylated derivates, quercetin-3-O-α-arabinofuranoside, quercetin-3-O-β-xyloside and quercetin-3-O-β-galactoside. This is the first time these have been isolated in this species. The structures were elucidated by 13 C NMR, 1 H NMR, UV and IR spectroscopy. The toxicity evaluation of extracts was performed by the brine shrimp method and determination of hemolytic activity. The samples demonstrated no toxic potential by the analyzed methods. A maioria das plantas ativas é tóxica em doses elevadas, portanto, é importante a investigação da toxicidade preliminar dos extratos das plantas. A espécie Rourea induta é uma droga potencial que não apresenta estudo fitoquímico ou biológico descrito na literatura. Assim, um estudo fitoquímico e análises toxicológicas foram realizados com o extrato etanólico obtido das folhas de Rourea induta Planch., Connaraceae. Foram obtidos um hidrocarboneto de cadeia longa, n-tetracosano, e quatro flavonóides, quercetina e três derivados glicosilados, quercetina-3-O-α-arabinofuranosideo, quercetina-3-O-β-xilosideo e quercetina-3-O-β-galactosideo. Esta é a primeira vez que estes compostos são isolados nesta espécie. As estruturas foram elucidadas por espectroscopia de RMN-13 C, RMN-1 H, ultravioleta e infravermelho. A avaliação da toxicidade dos extratos foi analisada pelo método da Artemia salina e atividade hemolítica. Nenhuma das amostras testadas apresentou um potencial tóxico pelos métodos analisados.Unitermos: Rourea induta/fitoquímica. Connaraceae/fitoquímica. Flavonóides. N-tetracosano. Knowledge about the effects of fire on sexual reproduction of Cerrado woody species is fundamental for elaborating public policies and management plans for its conservation. The present study evaluated the effect of a controlled burning on flowering and fruiting of Anacardium humile in an Cerrado stricto sensu environment, in Cavalcante, GO. An area with no fire records for five years was submitted to controlled burning in May 2016, used as the experimental area and its adjacent areas protected from fire as control area. In each area, 16 reproductive individuals were selected and their production of floral buds, flowers and fruits, followed up for 17 months. In 2016 the production of reproductive structures was higher in the control area, since the majority of individuals of the burned area invested in the recovery of vegetative structures (branches) damaged by fire. Only three individuals flowered in the burned area in 2016 and presented greater effort in the production of buds and flowers per panicle than the individuals in the control area, however, the fruit set was equal between the areas. One year after fire, the production of reproductive structures became equal between areas. The control area presented higher fruit production in 2017 in comparison to 2016, indicating a variable pattern in annual fruit production. The impact of fire on the reproductive structures of A. humile is greater in the same year of fire and its reproductive potential can be normalized in the subsequent year.

Resumo Espécies distílicas possuem populações com dois morfos florais. O morfo longistilo possui flores com pistilos longos e estames curtos e o morfo brevistilo, pistilos curtos e estames longos. Normalmente, os morfos apresentam um sistema heteromórfico de incompatibilidade e os morfos estão em uma razão de 1:1 (isopletia) nas populações. Diferentes variações podem ser encontradas em espécies distílicas, como a presença de autocompatibilidade, anisopletia e variações no nível de reciprocidade entre anteras e estigmas dos dois morfos. O objetivo desse trabalho foi investigar a ocorrência das características distílicas em duas espécies de Rubiaceae. Para isso, a razão dos morfos, a hercogamia recíproca, o sistema de incompatibilidade e os visitantes florais de Psychotria deflexa e Declieuxia fruticosa foram estudados. Ambas as espécies apresentaram os dois morfos em proporção semelhante, altos valores de reciprocidade entre a altura dos verticilos sexuais dos morfos florais e apenas insetos como visitantes florais. O morfo brevistilo das duas espécies apresentou autoincompatibilidade parcial. Dentro de Rubiaceae, mesmo em grupos filogenéticos distintos, o relaxamento ou quebra da distilia parece ocorrer em padrões similares e comumente tal variação é mais comum no morfo longistilo. Para as espécies estudadas, mesmo com a pseudocompatibilidade do morfo brevistilo, as populações apresentaram proporção igual dos morfos, indicando que fatores como a alta hercogamia recíproca e, possivelmente, o serviço de polinização podem promover a manutenção da isopletia característica da distilia.
