“…is essentially an arboreal primate, which could make it harder for this parasite to infect this species, the typical simian behavior of living in groups could favor the transmission of T. (T.) minutus larval eggs. 6 In Brazil, T. (T.) minutus has been reported infecting Alouatta caraya, 7 Alouatta seniculus, Alouatta belzebul, and Alouatta fusca. 2 Infection by T. (T.) minutus in Alouatta guariba clamitans has been described among individuals in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Santa Catarina.…”

“…Among these, 43% were parasitized: 33% by nematodes, 27% by trematodes, 18% by cestodes, 7% by acanthocephalans and 3% by pentastomids. In this excursion, the first report of the genus Enterobius (Enterobius minutus species) was made in a howler monkey (Alouatta caraya) (TRAVASSOS et al, 1927). Enterobius nematodes are Oxyuridae that are found in humans and primates and have anthropozoonotic importance (DILRUKSDHI et al, 2006).…”

The Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, conducted expeditions to the Cuiabá and São Lourenço rivers in 1922, which separate Mato Grosso from Mato Grosso do Sul states (Travassos et al, 1927).
