“…At least 166 species of mammals have been recorded in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, 73 of which are bats (Chiroptera), 46 are small marsupials (Didelphimorphia) or rodents (Rodentia: Cricetidae and Echimyidae) and 47 are medium or large-sized mammals (Cáceres et al 2008, Fischer et al 2015, Tomas et al 2017. Nonetheless, there are still gaps in the knowledge of the mammalian fauna in this state, especially on it´s Southern, Central, and Eastern regions (Tomas et al 2017).
