“…Scholars have suggested that religions have helped to shape values (Engelland, 2014; Lindridge, 2005; Minton et al, 2015) and legal traditions (Barzilai, 2007; Idleman, 1993; Zartner, 2012). With regard to business, we will be discussing CSR in section 2.2, but other suggested influences revolve around entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention (Audretsch et al, 2013; Henley, 2017; Rietveld & Van Burg, 2014; Sousa et al, 2020) and consumer behavior (Abela, 2014; Cleveland et al, 2013; Jamal & Sharifuddin, 2015; Lindridge, 2005).…”

“…Previous literature has evidenced that religion affects entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention (e.g., Audretsch et al, 2013; Henley, 2017; Rietveld & Van Burg, 2014; Sousa et al, 2020). For example, it may affect individuals’ perceived duty to add value to society through their entrepreneurial activity (Rietveld & Van Burg, 2014) and their pro-social motivation (Sousa et al, 2020).…”

“…Therefore, the factors may vary in different settings. When it comes to entrepreneurship intentions, the theory of planned behavior (TPB) has been widely used by the researchers (Alam et al , 2019; Gelderen et al , 2008; Gird and Bagraim, 2008; Kautonen et al , 2013; Krueger and Carsrud, 1993; Malebana, 2014; Pejic Bach et al , 2018; Roy et al , 2017; Sommer, 2011; Sousa et al , 2020; Valencia-Arias and Restrepo, 2020). However, it has been found that the studies, which have exclusively used TPB to predict entrepreneurship intention (EI) explain a small proportion of the variance (Liñán and Chen, 2009; Gelderen et al , 2008) usually 30%–45%.…”
