“…It is suggested that the low levels of anemia and iron deficiency, as well as the adequate levels of folate found in our study may be due to the socioeconomic classification of the household (50.9% middle class) and adequate nutritional state (67.3% of eutrophy) to most of the individuals. 5 Our results also indicated a high prevalence of iron supplementation in children at 6 and 24 months old (76.4%), differently from the data found in Oliveira et al 18 study which verified a low prevalence of supplementation usage in Porto Velho city in Acre, Brazil (13.5%).
