Show more

“…The results found in this study are divergent from those presented by some authors (PENSO et al 2016, OLIVEIRA et al 2012. (2012) verified rooting percentage ranging from 1 to 77% in different substrates and cultivars considered promising for the Brazilian region of Serra da Mantiqueira, PENSO et al (2016) further reports that the percentage of rooting can vary widely within the same cultivar in response to environmental and intrinsic conditions of the plant matrix, such as in rooting of Koroneiki cultivar.…”

This difference of results clearly shows the great variety existing in rooting potential among different olive tree cultivars, using different types of substrates.…”

“…Combining the need to increase production and consumption, while reducing imports, researchers have conducted a number of important olive studies in Brazil, on subjects such as cutting propagation (PENSO et al, 2016), indication of more favorable areas for cultivation (WREGE et al, 2015a;WREGE et al, 2015b), identification of pests (RICALDE et al, 2015) and olive and oil quality (OLIVEIRA et al, 2012 Sachet et al olive plant pathology under Brazilian climate conditions have not yet received sufficient attention. This is an important study area as increased olive cultivation in Brazil could result in increased spending and reduced production due to diseases occurrence.…”

“…In woody species, the root primordia may be the origin of cells close to the vascular system of callus tissue (Hartmann et al, 2011). Thus, the formation of callus at the base of the minicuttings may be essential for the rooting process, since this capacity is indicative of the processing efficiency and tissue differentiation (Penso, Sachet, Maro, Patto, & Citadin, 2016). However, the high percentage of rooting and low percentage of callus demonstrate that there was no relationship between these parameters.…”
