Methods: theoretical development study, addressing the elaboration of medium-range theory, based on Roy’s Adaptation Model, which combined theoretical deduction with induction strategies, based on literature review and concept analysis. “…1 In a complementary way, CVR is considered an adaptation process that must be implemented after a cardiovascular event, that is, followed by a pathophysiological condition that affects the cardiac system and promotes physical, social, psychological and spiritual changes, likely to occur in the environment of the health-disease process. 2 Thus, nurses, in particular, as one of the professionals who contribute to the rehabilitation of these patients, need to consider that the purpose of clinical care is to reduce losses resulting from the cardiovascular event. Therefore, clinical nursing care for patients requiring CVR should be based on knowledge of the clinical situation presented, as well as knowledge specific to nursing that underpins care, such as nursing theories.…”

“…4 The phases of the nursing process are: assessment of rehabilitative behavior and stimulus for CVR; nursing diagnosis; planning of rehabilitative care; rehabilitative nursing intervention and evaluation of rehabilitative care. 2 Seen from this perspective, the Nursing Process determines the existence of some elements that are inherent to it, such as the ability to formulate diagnoses, description ofthe results achieved and the choice of the most appropriate interventions for each situation, thus constituting an evidence-based practice.…”

“…This is a chronic disease that has resulted in a constant increase in hospital admission rates for acute events, such as acute myocardial infarction (AMI) or other ischemic heart diseases (1,2) . In this context, it is necessary that individuals with CAD carry out self-management of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in order to ensure the reduction of atherosclerotic progression, preventing new coronary events, stenosis or thrombosis of coronary stents or vascular grafts (2)(3)(4)(5) .…”

“…To support patient self-management, health professionals can implement various educational interventions aimed at controlling cardiovascular risk factors, correct use of medications and incorporation of a healthy lifestyle (3)(4)(5)(6) through periodic telephone consultations, face-to-face multidisciplinary consultations, use of educational messages for mobile phones, educational games and applications for mobile devices (3)(4)(5)(6) . For individuals with CAD, the use of short messages for smartphones has been associated with an improvement in LDLc levels, blood pressure levels, Body Mass Index (BMI), physical activity levels, smoking, knowledge levels, depressive symptoms and compliance with pharmacological treatment (7)(8)(9)(10)(11) .…”
