The article reviews the history of formation and development of Russia's diplomatic relations with the Arab Gulf States. It analyzes the countries' rapport in the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf on the issue of homeland security in the region (the Iranian and Syrian questions, Qatar crisis). It also looks at the development of military and technical cooperation and the evolution of economic relations, which Russia uses to secure its growing geopolitical influence in the Arabian Gulf. The research describes the prospects of political development after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria.

Авторы анализируют современные европейские инициативы в сфере противодействия дезинформации в сети Интернет, среди которых выделяются доклад Экспертной группы высокого уровня Европейской Комиссии о фейковых новостях и онлайн дезинформации (HLEG) и «Акт по улучшению правоприменения в социальных сетях» (NetzDG). На основе широкого спектра политологических теорий и подходов к рассматриваемой проблеме авторы предлагают модернизировать и дополнить ключевые принципы HLEG 5.

The book presents a comparative study of theoretical and conceptual approaches to analyzing and substantiating media hegemony in the United States. Drawing on the analysis of various research theories and concepts, including various historical and modern cases, the author comes to meaningful conclusions that could be of interest to a wide range of readers.
The article reviews Russian political science studies related to the image of a political leader. The authors distinguish philosophical, historical, political, psychological and sociopolitical approaches and schools. The authors examine both theoretical and practice-oriented developments in this field of research. The main methodological branches pertinent to the studies of a political leader’s image are political psychology and political sociology, which are analyzed separately. The article reviews the works of both well-known political scientists in this field and young researchers. The authors believe that the collected and systematized material can prove useful for political scientists researching the problems of political leadership.
The given article presents research of the evolution of the Russian party system. The chosen methodology is based on the heuristic potential of agent-based modelling. The author analyzes various scenarios of parties’ competition (applying Pareto distribution) in connection with recent increase of the number of political parties. In addition, the author predicts the level of ideological diversity of the parties’ platforms (applying the principles of Hotelling distribution) in order to evaluate their potential competitiveness in the struggle for voters.
In 2019, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiyah Ahmed won the Nobel peace prize. His government is praised for releasing political prisoners, partially opening Ethiopia's political space to the opposition, and making peace with neighboring Eritrea. At the same time, in recent years nearly 3 million people have fled their homes in Ethiopia, mainly because of ethnic violence. Human rights organizations accuse the country's authorities of forcing people to return to their homes, where many still do not feel safe. In 2018 and 2019 alone, more than a million Ethiopians were forced from their homes by ethnic violence. Ethiopia currently ranks first in the world in the number of internally displaced persons. The authors analyze the controversial socio-political situation in Ethiopia in the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2020.
The article analyzes potential of applying contemporary eye-tracking technologies in the areas of analytical support of political activities and public administration. The authors conclude that eye-tracking research could be applied to planning of information and election campaigns, counter-extremism activities in the Internet, party branding and political SMM. The article shows that in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, an increasing share of information, management and regulatory functions are performed online, which further updates the possibilities of using eye-tracking to improve remote public services and optimize their usability.
The article uses the methods of unit economics to analyze inter-party competition in the Russian Federation on the example of the 2016 elections to the State Duma. The author concludes limited applicability of unit economics for the analysis of electoral strategies and prospects of both parliamentary and new parties. The current mechanism of state financing of political parties encourages them to drift in the direction of market or rental strategies.
