The decision regarding the distance education method in Turkey on March 15, 2020, has completely changed the learning and teaching methodology of all university students and educators, and it has been seen that all courses have started to be given with distance education. The purpose of this research is to examine the perspectives of engineering university students towards distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research consists of engineering faculty students studying at various universities in the Aegean region and Russian Federation. In the research, a scanning model was used. The data of the research were collected from 520 engineering department university students from various universities in our country, according to the convenience sampling method, and through an online questionnaire filled out by the students. Thanks to this wide participation, results have been obtained that will explain the Covid-19 process related to distance education in a good way. In general, it has been concluded that students are happy to see them in distance education model courses, so they do not fall behind in their education, and university students watch their courses mostly with the help of smart devices.
The relevance of this article is determined by the need to study new approaches to the organization of the study of mathematics in inclusive education, explore recreational imagination, as well as self-regulation for the development of the learners' ability to explain in detail their actions, find and correct mistakes on their own and thus develop their mathematical thinking. Today the needs of society to improve the quality of modern education along with the increasing volume of information that modern students must continuously process make the problem of developing mathematical thinking even more acute. The purpose of the study is to research the relationship between recreating imagination, mental self-regulation and mathematical thinking in students with mental retardation. Research methods included observation, psychological and pedagogical experiment, psychodiagnostic tests, and diagnostic tasks. Mathematical and statistical methods were also used (the Pearson correlation coefficient reflecting the degree of correlation between changes in two variables, where the changes in one of them correspond to the changes in the other), as well as interpretive methods. Research result: the article examines the relationship of mental self-regulation, recreating imagination and mathematical thinking in students with mental retardation and confirms the interrelationship of these processes using methods of mathematical statistics in psychology. It also discusses the complex of correctional and developmental exercises aimed at the development of recreating imagination and offers the means of developing mental self-regulation for the further development of the learners' mathematical abilities. The data obtained in this research can be used in social psychology, pedagogy, developmental psychology, inclusive education, as well as for further theoretical development of this area and find application in the broad practice of inclusive education together with an established and experienced system of tasks.
The purpose of this study was to systematically review articles on the career choices of learners and STEM. The first goal was to classify research on career choice and STEM to identify trends and gaps in the literature. The second goal was to summarize the findings related to learners’ career choices at STEM and interpret them according to what has been reported in the literature. In this study, the PRISMA method was used to review articles in the educational literature STEM. Sixty-seven articles published in indexed journals in SCOPUS that met the specified criteria were analyzed systematically. The results showed that 51 of 67 articles were involved in the analysis to review by researchers. The results also showed that the earliest article that addressed career choice and STEM was published in 2011, and most of the articles studied were published after 2017. The results also showed that most articles on career choice in STEM were conducted in the United States, Israel, and Spain. The preferred sample groups in research on career choice in STEM fields are mostly high school and undergraduate students. In addition, the studies were broadly classified into five categories, including the effects of STEM activities and the effects on teachers, the effects of some variables on learners’ career choices, the study of learners’ career choices, and parental attitudes. Based on the results obtained from this research, implications are made for future research.
The relevance of the article is due to the insufficient development of various aspects of the digitalization of mathematical education in the educational environment of an oil and gas university. The purpose of the article is to analyze the results of testing the online adaptive learning system Plario as a digital educational "constructor" of the level of mathematical training of first-year bachelor students starting to study mathematical disciplines at the university. Equally important is the interpretation of Plario as a digital concept that makes it possible to comprehend the skill-forming function and methodological productivity of adaptive educational technologies. The analysis of scientific literature and the experience of approbation made it possible to justify the need to use the Plario digital platform to improve the level of mathematical training of first-year students starting to study mathematical disciplines at the university. The article presents an algorithm for updating the level of mathematical training of first-year students by integrating Plario into the educational process. The principles of updating the level of mathematical training of students by means of a digital tutor are revealed. The results of approbation and analysis of the survey of students' satisfaction with the Plario system are presented. The article is intended for employees of the system of general and higher education, heads of educational organizations of secondary and higher education, researchers.
An appeal to the personalistic component of the history of mathematics, stories about scientists who have contributed to its development, contribute to the implementation of the educational aspect in the teaching of mathematics. A question arises: how can a mathematics teacher shape the moral qualities of a child, including patriotic and international feelings; what pedagogical means he can use at the same time; how to prepare a teacher for this type of activity at a university. Based on the purpose of the study, the case study method was chosen as the main tool, which allowed us to carefully study the data (biographical materials) in a certain context (in terms of their educational potential). Biographies of outstanding mathematicians were analyzed and cases related to the manifestation of their qualities in various life situations were identified. The publications and experience of teachers were considered in terms of the possibility of including this material in the process of teaching mathematics. The empirical experience of implementing the process of training a teacher-educator in the framework of teaching methodological and mathematical disciplines and organizing extracurricular activities of a professional orientation was generalized. As a result, the main directions of work on the implementation of educational activities through the appeal to the patterns of behavior of the creators of mathematics were identified: the creation of biographical essays and the preparation of presentations that reveal personal experience and career trajectory; the inclusion in the discussion of the actions and facts from the life of outstanding mathematicians; the inclusion in the discussion of actions and facts from the life of these wonderful people; preparation of brief historical notes on the discoveries of Russian mathematicians of different historical periods and other near-mathematical events; making presentations, wall newspapers (traditional or interactive) or video clips, organizing mathematical holidays, etc. The practical significance of the materials of this article lies in the fact that the developed system of work, including getting to know the cases from the life of scientists in the framework of training sessions, setting practice-oriented tasks for organizing independent work of students and organizing extracurricular educational activities in the form of group projects, contributes to the formation of the future teacher's readiness to use the educational potential of cases from the life of scientists in educational work.
