EFFECT OF INDOLEBUTYRIC ACID AND CULTIVAR ON ROOTING OF HARDWOOD CUTTINGS OF BLUEBERRYABSTRACT -Among the propagation methods of blueberry, cutting is the technique that presents low cost. However, it provides different results depending on cultivar and others factors. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the IBA effect on rooting of hardwood cuttings of blueberry cultivars Powderblue, Delite, Climax, Bluebelle and Woodard. The vegetative material used (from mother nursery) was 15 cm long segment taken from main branches with approximately 6 mm diameter. After cuttings preparation, the cuttings base were immersed for 15 seconds into a phytoregulator solution (IBA) at the following concentrations: 0, 1000, 2000, 4000 or 8000 mg L -1 . Cuttings were set to root into medium sand under intermittent micro-sprinkler irrigation. The experimental design used was a complete randomized block with five cultivars and five IBA concentrations, with four replications and ten cuttings per plot. The percentage of rooted cuttings, average number of roots per cuttings, length of the better-developed root, average number of shoots and length of the largest shoot were evaluated after eight months of experiment installation. The response of the blueberry cultivars to root cutting varied with the indelbutyric acid concentration. Regardless to IBA presence and cultivar, the percentage of rooting rating was higher than 55%.
Vegetative growth, flowering and effective fructification of 'Jubileu' peach under different interstock lengthsAbstract -The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of different interstock lengths on the vigor of 'Jubileu' peach plants. Interstocks with 5, 10, 15 and 20-cm length, from the low-vigor cultivar Granada, were used. Vegetative growth, flowering and effective fructification were evaluated. The experiment was carried out from March-2007 to December-2008 at Pelotas, RS, Brazil. The vegetative growth of 'Jubileu' peach orchard was directly related to the interstock length. Increases in interstock length anticipate the onset of flowering and full anthesis. Vigor reduction induced by longer interstocks increases floral differentiation. Interstock with 20-cm length promotes the highest reduction in plant vigor, but also increases plant mortality. Therefore, the 10 and 15-cm interstocks are the most suitable for high-density orchards.
plant production of peach tree GraftinG via active and dormant Bud in GrowinG sYstem without soil aBstract -One of the deficiencies observed in peach production in Brazil is undoubtedly the need for new technologies in the production of seedlings. The quality of plants and the time for its formation is the base of the success of the orchard and fruit farm. The production of peach seedlings by cuttings has been used commercially in some countries, with the main advantages the ease of implementation, low cost and speed of plants production. For the foregoing objective of the present study was to evaluate the behavior of the grafted cultivar Maciel yolk through active and dormant bud on rootstocks and clones developed in soilless system. The study was conducted in a greenhouse conditions and a greenhouse located in the Didactic and Experimental Field, Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Agronomy Eliseu Maciel of Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel / RS), from March 2010 to May 2011 and November 2010 to November 2011. The plant material were cuttings of peach cultivars Okinawa and Flordaguard after transplanted into the semihydroponic system, with appropriate diameter bubbles were grafted active and dormant bud from cultivar Maciel according to season. In the rootstocks 'Okinawa' and 'Flordaguard' behavior was similar in relation to the fixation index when grafted blisters of 'Maciel' active bud, whereas with the dormant bud index of fixation was lower in the rootstock 'Okinawa'. The seedlings from the grafting of active bud reached the length for commercially ready seedlings faster. The seedlings from the grafting of dormant bud had higher number of lateral shoots.
