Green buildings have now become the basis of the ideal sustainable development. The application of the green building concept can be seen from three points of view, namely environmental, economic, and social aspects. Virtual Reality allows researchers to conduct realtime analytical studies of green building indicators and compare them with scenarios at the next design stage. This paper discusses the role of Virtual Reality in green building. The methodology in this paper uses a literature study research method, the data obtained are compiled, analysed, and concluded, to get a conclusion about the role of Virtual Reality in green building. From several literature studies, there are many things that can be done by Virtual Reality technology in applying the concept of green building.
Façade is the front of the building which is facing the street. It is one of the architectural elements of the city that can” speak out” the meaning of the building. In addition, façade is also a part of urban environment order which needs to be sustainable. The transformation of building function often impacts on changes in the composition of façade. Therefore, it is very interesting to be observed, especially along Pakubowono's street, which has distinctively Jengki architectural buildings. The purpose of this study is to explore the the extent of architectural transformation that occurs in Jengki style building by using descriptive methods. The result showed that Pakubowono area has undergone a change and assimilation of forms, although it is not very significant in the building typology. There are many changes that occur in materials and building elements which is an attempt to maintain its damaged parts.
In hotel design, there are 7 aspects of consideration, one of which is the use of cost-effective and efficient local materials, so that the design of this hotel implements the use of local materials which are chosen in the form of bamboo, where bamboo is the largest non-timber forest product in Indonesia. The research used a qualitative method of literature study. Data analysis was carried out based on the selection of the type of bamboo and the choice of space to be used by bamboo in the interior. The result of this research is the use of bamboo for the interior walls of the hotel.
Humans have tendency to relate to nature. This is a human trait inherited from generation to generation. Where we can feel happy, interested or amazed by the beauty of nature. The rapid development and technological advances make our relationship with nature farther away. As a result, we become indifferent to the environment around us, the degeneration of ecosystems, and cause mental disorders and stress. Stress and stress disorders are problems that are often experienced by office workers in big cities like Jakarta. There are 60.8% of office workers experiencing depression and stress. One factor causing stress is the work environment, which is a dense urban area. Therefore, rebuilding our relationship with nature becomes more important in the field of conservation. The concept of biophilic design is a design approach based on biophilia aspects which aims to produce coworking spaces that can reduce stress and provide mental and physical healing to its users.
This paper presents a study of the process of virtualization or a cultural heritage modeling of Joglo house, an old Javanese house, through observation method. The method consists of three aspects as the following: (1) to observations and measurements, (2) to create a virtual image of the cultural heritage and (3) to integrate the all component of the cultural heritage house, so that the final image is expected to be the replicate of the original house. Additionally, in the process of making traditional Joglo house model, there is another aspect that has been conducted, it was to create harmony between the display of a merger of two and three-dimensional photorealistic models which was made with the help of computer-based applications, namely Computer Aided Design (CAD). As such, by implementing these methods, the reconstruction of cultural heritage of the Joglo house, the Kartasura, can be realized.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
