Field research can be associated with both qualitative and quantitative research methods, depending on the problems faced and the goals to be achieved. The success of data collection in the field research depends on the determination of the appropriate sampling technique, to obtain accurate data, and reliably. In studies that have problems related to specific issues, requiring a non-probability sampling techniques one of which is the snowball sampling technique. This technique is useful for finding, identifying, selecting and taking samples in a network or chain of relationships. Phased implementation procedures performed through interviews and questionnaires. Snowball sampling technique has strengths and weaknesses in its application. Field research housing sector become the case study to explain this sampling technique.
The DKI Jakarta Government is actively implementing a sports center rehabilitation program for sports and arts activities for the community. One problem that has not been considered in the design of sports centers in Jakarta is the provision of facilities for persons with disabilities, in order to that they have the same opportunities as other normal people in using sports centers. From the results of a study using descriptive methods through observation of existing sports centers, the results are obtained that to realize a livable public facilities requires the design of a sports center that applies the principles of Universal Design, namely Equitable Use, Flexibility in Use, Perceptible Information, Simple & Intuitive, Tolerance for Error, Low Physical Effort, Size and Space for Approach Use.
The housing development is done by city kampong society self-supportingly at its growth become very difficult to be controlled. To make sustainable environment in city kampong hence require to be done a research concerning Pattern of Housing Development in City Kampong and the Factors Its Influence. This research used Descriptive-Analytical research method and take case study in Bidara Cina Kampong, Bidara Cina sub-district, Jatinegara district, East Jakarta. Result of this research indicates that the increasing of prosperity of society in city kampong which generally is middle income society to low income tend to be accompanied by degradation of environmental quality of its settlement. This condition happened because ably limited economics and very the limited wide of land of private. The kampong society tending to develop bedroom and living room as multi function room, and at the process development of house heedless of neighbors environment. Dominant factors influence pattern of housing development in city kampong alternately is social-culture factors, condition of physical land and house factors, economics factors, requirement of human being factors, and non-physical factors (legality of land and house).
Java is an island with the most populous population in Indonesia. With the potential of cultural diversity in Java, creative economic activities on this island need the development. The local wisdom and cultural events are reflecting the creativity of the community and can provide economic value to the community. The physical quality of creative economic spaces that can become generators in some cultural tourism areas does not have functional quality space. To support the preservation of cultural heritage and the development of superior cultural tourism areas, the quality of an excellent creative economic space is necessary. The aim of this study is to identify physical quality of space for creative economic activities or events. The method of this study used a qualitative descriptive method. Results of this study provide an overview that cultural village in Semarang and Banyuwangi have five potential creative economic activities: traditional architecture, culinary, crafts, music, and performing arts. The physical quality of these two creative economic spaces is still limited because of the limited economic capacity of the community in providing the spaces. They are shaping and realizing space with utilizes natural conditions (green open spaces or spaces among tall trees) and local material (bamboo).
Topics and themes become the key to open the insights of both theoretical and practical knowledge in architectural design; a concept in architectural design related issue as well. Ideally, the students of architecture do researches to generate new design ideas or proper design solutions. Prior to doing researches, it is necessary for them to find out how far the process of searches – literature review and application of topics and themes in the architectural design – have been done. This study was conducted with descriptive approach through case studies. The analysis unit is the final students of design studio class and students of the final project in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Binus University - Jakarta. The Results of the study illustrate that the architecture students of Binus University know and learn about the architecture research. However, they need the efforts to improve research skills, accurate literature searches, as well as exercise and evaluation of the implementation of topic-themes that started to be studied by students from the mid-level to theadvance-level. The results of this study will be inputs to support architectural design learning based on architectural research at the Department of Architecture, especially in Binus University.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
