We report the creation of an artificial skyrmion crystal, which is configurable reliably at room temperature. The samples are fabricated by embedding lithography-patterned arrays of micron-sized Co disks onto Co/Pt multilayer films that have perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Kerr microscopy and magnetic force microscopy reveal that the disks are in the vortex state with controllable circulation. Via comparison of measured hysteresis loops and calculated ones, we find that the sample can be configured into either a skyrmion or a non-skyrmion state. The reproducible and stable skyrmion crystal at room temperature opens the door to direct exploration of their unique topological properties, which has deservedly caused a flurry of theoretical activity.

EA could effectively lower the contents of TNF-α and VEGF in peripheral blood and joint synovia to improve the internal environment for genesis and development of RA, so as to enhance the clinical therapeutic effectiveness.

Hybrid organic−inorganic halide perovskites (HOIPs) MAPbBr 3 and their ramifications have emerged because of the photovoltaic, optical, and other fascinating performances of HOIPs in recent years. However, many intrinsic properties, such as crystal structure and ferroelectricity, are still controversial. In this work, the ferroelectricity of the orthorhombic and tetragonal MAPbBr 3 single crystal was confirmed through the dielectric behavior versus bias electric field ε(E), the temperature-dependent pyroelectric current with positive/negative poling, and the positive-up-negative-down (PUND) measurements. The electric field dependence of dielectric constant curves shows a butterfly type shape in the orthorhombic and tetragonal phase. The pyroelectric current shows two maxima at 155 and 245 K, corresponding to ferroelectric−ferroelectric and ferroelectric−paraelectric phase transitions, respectively. In particular, the direction of the pyroelectric current can be reversed by a positive or negative poling electric field, which is the assertive evidence of ferroelectricity. The PUND measurements act as the most convincing proof of the ferroelectricity of the MAPbBr 3 single crystal. This work reports new evidence of the ferroelectric properties of the MAPbBr 3 single crystal, which provides the intrinsic property when considering their high power conversion efficiencies.

We compute the electronic structure, momentum resolved spectral function and optical conductivity of the new superconductor LaO1−xFxFeAs within the combination of the Density functional theory and the Dynamical Mean Field Theory. We find that the compound in the normal state is a strongly correlated metal and the parent compound is a bad metal at the verge of the metal insulator transition. We argue that the superconductivity is not phonon mediated.

Atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) carbon nitride sheets (CNs) are attracting attention in the field of photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Because of the rapid recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs and limited more active sites, the photocatalytic efficiency of CNs cannot meet the actual requirements. Here, atomically thin 2D/2D van der Waals heterostructures of metal-free graphdiyne (GDY)/CNs are fabricated through a simple electrostatic self-assembly method. Experimental characterizations along with first-principles calculations show that the introduction of GDY in CNs promoted the transport of photogenerated carriers in the melon chain, thus suppressing the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. Both in situ FTIR measurements and DFT calculation confirm that the introduced GDY served as the CO2 adsorption site and enhanced the CO2 adsorption capacity of the CNs/GDY heterostructure. Thanks to the 2D/2D van der Waals heterojunction, the optimized CNs/GDY enhances significantly the CO generation rate up to 95.8 μmol g–1 that is 19.2-fold higher than that of CNs. This work provides a viable approach for the design of metal-free van der Waals heterostructure-based photocatalysts with high catalytic activity.

Docetaxel (Doc) and adriamycin (Adr) are two of the most effective chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of breast cancer. However, their efficacy is often limited by the emergence of multidrug resistance (MDR). The purpose of this study was to investigate MDR mechanisms through analyzing systematically the expression changes of genes related to MDR in the induction process of isogenic drug resistant MCF-7 cell lines. Isogenic resistant sublines selected at 100 and 200 nM Doc (MCF-7/100 nM Doc and MCF-7/200 nM Doc) or at 500 and 1,500 nM Adr (MCF-7/500 nM Adr and MCF-7/1,500 nM) were developed from human breast cancer parental cell line MCF-7, by exposing MCF-7 to gradually increasing concentrations of Doc or Adr in vitro. Cell growth curve, flow cytometry and MTT cytotoxicity assay were preformed to evaluate the MDR characteristics developed in the sublines. Some key genes on the pathways related to drug resistance (including drug-transporters: MDR1, MRP1 and BCRP; drug metabolizing-enzymes: CYP3A4 and glutathione S-transferases (GST) pi; target genes: topoisomerase II (TopoIIα) and Tubb3; apoptosis genes: Bcl-2 and Bax) were analyzed at RNA and protein expression levels by real time RT-qPCR and western blot, respectively. Compared to MCF-7/S (30.6 h), cell doubling time of MCF-7/Doc (41.6 h) and MCF-7/Adr (33.8 h) were both prolonged, and the cell proportion of resistant sublines in G1/G2 phase increased while that in S-phase decreased. MCF-7/100 nM Doc and MCF-7/200 nM Doc was 22- and 37-fold resistant to Doc, 18- and 32-fold to Adr, respectively. MCF-7/500 nM Adr and MCF-7/1,500 nM Adr was 61- and 274-fold resistant to Adr, three and 12-fold to Doc, respectively. Meantime, they also showed cross-resistance to the other anticancer drugs in different degrees. Compared to MCF-7/S, RT-qPCR and Western blot results revealed that the expression of MDR1, MRP1, BCRP, Tubb3 and Bcl-2 were elevated in both MCF-7/Doc and MCF-7/Adr, and TopoIIα, Bax were down-regulated in both the sublines, while CYP3A4, GST pi were increased only in MCF-7/Doc and MCF-7/Adr respectively. Furthermore, the changes above were dose-dependent. The established MCF-7/Doc or MCF-7/Adr has the typical MDR characteristics, which can be used as the models for resistance mechanism study. The acquired process of MCF-7/S resistance to Doc or Adr is gradual, and is complicated with the various pathways involved in. There are some common resistant mechanisms as well as own drug-specific changes between both the sublines.
