NACC is a malignancy with low rate of lymphatic metastases. NACC should be treated by combined surgical operation and radiotherapy. Cranial nerves invasion, stage and treatment approach might be important factors affecting the prognosis of the patients with NACC.
We investigated the polymorphisms of bovine cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcripts (CART ). The coding and regulating regions of CART were screened in 7 cattle breeds by the single-stranded conformation polymorphism (SSCP) technique. The four loci (C1,C2, C3 and C4) studied were all polymorphic. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products representing different SSCP variants were sequenced and a total of 9 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were found. The associations between polymorphic loci and the growth traits of Nanyang cattle were analysed. The results indicated that genotype A1A1 of the C1 locus was associated with a higher body weight (P less than 0.05) than heterozygous A1B1. Genotype A2A2 of the C2 locus was associated with lower body weight and average daily weight gain (P < or = 0.001) than heterozygous A2B2. C3 and C4 loci had no significant effect on Nanyang cattle growth traits (P > 0.05).
In weed management, using native parasites to control exotic weeds is considered a better alternative than classical biological control. But the risk must be assessed because of the potential damage caused by these agents. We conducted this project to investigate the mechanism driving the choice of a native obligate parasite, Cuscuta australis, between the exotic, Humulus scandens, and native plants as its host through field and pot experiments. The results showed that C. australis preferred the exotic weed over native (naturalized) hosts and caused a notable reduction in the biomass of H. scandens in the field. In contrast, the results of the pot experimentindicated that C. australis preferred a mix of native (naturalized) hosts over the exotic weed. Both texperiments indicated that the parasitic preference of C. australis was induced more by light irradiance than plant water, carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) contents, indicating that the native parasite can only be used to control H. scandens when the exotic weed forms mono-cultures or dominates the community. Accordingly, induction and release of C. australis to control H. scandens should be conducted with great caution.
Although there have been reports on telbivudine-induced myopathy and creatine kinase (CK) elevation, few reports focus on its effect on hyperlactatemia in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Here we reported a case of hyperlactatemia during telbivudine treatment. A 26-year-old Chinese man had been receiving telbivudine for CHB since July 2011, with a CK level of 68 U/L before the antiviral therapy. After 3 months he felt muscular weakness in both upper and lower extremities. A check in the local clinic found his CK level was increased to 222 U/L (upper limit of normal 170 U/L). However, he did not visit his doctor or stop the telbivudine treatment until he felt myalgia throughout his body. By this time his CK level had increased to 4151 U/L. Even after the withdrawal of telbivudine, his myalgia was exacerbated and his CK level was decreased extremely slowly. His constant myolysis developed into hyperlactatemia and he finally recovered after successful venovenous hemodiafiltration. The findings in this patient suggest that telbivudine may lead to high CK levels and hyperlactatemia may occur if telbivudine is not discontinued immediately when CK levels are clearly increased. Moreover, we emphasized that serum CK and lactate levels should be monitored closely during treatment with telbivudine in patients with CHB.
Molecularly imprinted microspheres for recognition of chlorpyrifos were prepared by thermal initiation and precipitation polymerization, and were characterized using scanning electron microscope and infrared spectroscopy. Binding characteristics of the microspheres were also investigated. Sensitive film electrode of chlorpyrifos was prepared using the microspheres above on the surface of gold electrode by spin coating. Electrochemical sensor was constructed with the electrode prepared above as recognition element, and the response characteristics of the sensor to chlorpyrifos in water were investigated based on constant-current potentiometry. It was shown that a reasonable linear response curve between potential and concentration was obtained from 1.0×10-12mol/L to 2.0×10-8mol/L, with a detection limit of 1.0×10-13mol/L. The suitable pH was 2.2~3.4,and response time was 10 min. The imprinted electrode showed relatively high selectivity to chlorpyrifos and was applied to the analysis of chlorpyrifos in the simulated river samples with recovery rates ranging from 89% to 105%.
In order to evaluate the resources and environment attributes of manufacturing process, an IPO model and an evaluation index system are presented first. And then scatter degree combination evaluation method is proposed to solve the inconsistency produced by different evaluation methods. The evaluation results are more accurate by integration of several evaluation results and evaluation information of other evaluation methods. In the end, the validity of the method is confirmed by an example, evaluating a valve body’s resources and environment attributes of manufacturing process.
A series of new nitropyrazole explosive molecules were designed with N-nitropyrazole as structural unit, The detonation parameters of nitropyrazoles explosives, such as detonation velocity, detonation pressure, detonation temperature, detonation volume, were estimated theoretically in different methods, The calculated detonation pressure was corresponded with high energy density material (HEDM). Their detonation velocity and detonation pressure are between those of TATB and HMX. These compounds have higher detonation temperature and heat of detonation compared with HMX and TATB. It was predicted that these explosives are of favorable stability.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
