ResumenPalabras claves El espectro de infrarrojo con transformada de Fourier (FTIR) puede considerarse un conjunto de datos con información implícita procedente de la generación de señales resultantes de vibraciones a nivel molecular por la interacción de la materia con radiación infrarroja. El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar el efecto de los cambios espectrales como resultado de transformaciones matemáticas simples de los datos de absorbancia (a) en un espectro de FTIR, con el fin de obtener una o varias aproximaciones algorítmicas que permitan incrementar el aprovechamiento de la información contenida en el espectro de FTIR. Se concluyó que el uso de transformaciones secuenciales del espectro produce la obtención de espectros modificados con información inicialmente no disponible, y que puede ser de utilidad para comparaciones cualitativas, tras la adecuada estandarización del procedimiento de obtención del mismo. Una secuencia con buenos resultado fue: (i) transformar los valores punto a punto mediante el cálculo del inverso, (ii) calcular el espectro diferencial del espectro invertido, (iii) calcular el valor absoluto de cada punto,
