Resumo: O Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente preconiza a proteção integral da criança e do adolescente, postulando como direito fundamental o desenvolvimento de crianças preferencialmente no ambiente familiar e, excepcionalmente, em família substituta, prevendo aplicação de medidas protetivas quando seus direitos não forem garantidos. O acolhimento institucional é uma das últimas medidas aplicáveis nos casos de ameaça ou violação desses direitos, e deve possuir caráter excepcional e provisório. O acolhido deve ser o protagonista de seus processos, uma vez que todas as decisões são tomadas em prol do seu bem-estar, no entanto, nem sempre eles são ouvidos. É fundamental proporcionar ao infante um espaço de escuta. O presente estudo pretende apresentar o espaço da brinquedoteca como território para a escuta humanizada do discurso infantil e resgate de suas histórias de vida. Participaram do trabalho quatro crianças que estavam acolhidas em uma instituição de Belém-Pa. Os dados foram coletados na brinquedoteca da instituição e analisados de forma qualitativa. Verificou-se que: 1-durante as brincadeiras simbólicas, foi possível acessar os significados e valores que as crianças absorvem das diferentes relações que estabeleceram ao longo da vida. 2-As crianças representaram violações de direitos que sofreram ou presenciaram no decorrer de suas trajetórias e 3-Denotaram seus desejos e expectativas a respeito do futuro. Considera-se que o espaço da brinquedoteca favoreceu os discursos dos brincantes possibilitando a compreensão sobre suas histórias de vida.
