The thermal conductivity and thermal-expansion and thermo-optic coefficients, the knowledge of which is essential for nonlinear optical applications, are measured along the three crystallographic axes of the newly discovered orthorhombic crystal LiInSe2. The latter has a nonlinear susceptibility only a quarter lower than that for the commercially available AgGaS2, but its advantages include ∼4 times higher thermal conductivity, ∼2 times lower thermo-optic coefficients, and the lack of sign inversion in thermal-expansion coefficients.

The density of gaseous and liquid 1,1,1,2,3,3-hexafluoropropane (HFC-236ea) and the speed of sound in liquid HFC-236ea have been studied by a γ -attenuation technique, an ultrasonic interferometer, and an isochoric piezometer method over the temperature range of 263-423 K at pressures up to 4.05 MPa. The purity of the samples used throughout the measurements is 99.68 mol%. The pressures of the saturated vapor were measured over the same temperature range. The experimental uncertainties of the temperature, pressure, density, and speed-of-sound measurements were estimated to be within ±20 mK, ±1.5 kPa, ±(0.05-0.30)%, and ±(0.05-0.10)%, respectively.

The shape of the liquid-liquid phase boundary of the C 6 F 14 -C 6 H 14 system near the critical solution point has been determined by a γ -ray attenuation technique. According to the measurements, the critical solution temperature and composition are 295.69 ± 0.02 K and 36.1 ± 0.3 mol% C 6 F 14 , respectively. The critical exponent of the liquid-liquid coexistence curve is 0.322 ± 0.008. Midpoints of the coexistence curve exhibit a departure from the law of the rectilinear diameter.
